Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET VOPNI Peacefully, on Sunday, January 12, 2014, Violet Vopni passed away at Middlechurch Home at the age of 104 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Edward Vopni. Left to celebrate her life are her son, Richard David and daughter, Joan Augusta, seven grandchildren, Lori Macario (Tony), Barbara Chapman (David), David Dyson (Kierston), Catherine Bay (Darcy), William Dyson (Cindy), Michael Vopni (Tracy), Kevin Vopni (Kim), as well as 12 great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Winnipeg on April 6, 1909. She attended Daniel McIntyre. An accomplished pianist, Violet accompanied the Gilbert & Sullivan musicals, as well as competitors in the annual Music Festival. Married in 1929, Violet and Ed enjoyed motor trips and overseas travel. She was in her 50's when she decided to get her driver's license. Also in later years she studied French at the St. Boniface College. Mom loved cooking, feeding Dad gourmet meals, home-made Icelandic bread, pies and cookies. Until she lost her eyesight, Violet produced beautiful aran knits, hooked rugs and needlepoint, leaving a legacy of her talents for all of her family. We are so very grateful for the loving care Mom received at Middlechurch, her home for 15 years. The activities that Mom always participated in, the sing songs and the parties, were very special. The wonderful staff at Middlechurch were an extended family for her, making her life happy and fun. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be placed by Dad's, in Brookside Cemetery in the summer when all the family can be together.
