ALMA RISTAU On October 20, 1937 our Lord created the perfect mother. On January 17, 2014 He decided it was time for her to come home to be with him. Our wife, mom, oma, sister and friend went home to be with the Jesus she loved. Waiting for her there are her sisters, her mom and dad, her mother-in-law and brother-in-law. Missing her are her husband Klaus, her children David and Paulette, Helga and John (Katie and Zak), Johnny and Linda (Katie-Anne), Ed and Wendi; also her sister Gertie (Art), sister-in-laws Renate and Karin, many nieces and nephews and their families. Mom also had many, many friends who loved her and will miss her. Mom, you were the best ever. We are so grateful that God gave us the best mom in the whole world. Your smile, your hands that never stopped working, never stopped praying, your hugs are things we will miss desperately. The quiet way you just listened and always just knew when something was wrong. Although we miss you more than words can say, we know we can see you again. Mom, we will love you forever, we will like you for always and as long as we are living, our mommy you'll be. We will see you when we get there! -Klaus, David, Helga, Johannes and Edward "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2nd Timothy 4, vs. 7&8 The Celebration of our Mom's Life will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue with viewing prior to the service. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Meadowood Manor Foundation Chaplaincy Fund or St. Boniface Foundation E6 Fund. Friends Funeral Service, 204-339-5555.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I have many very fond memories of my Tante Alma.... all of them are related to how warm and kind she was. I always looked forward to her genuine heartfelt hugs when we arrived to visit - I always knew she was glad to see me. She created a true sense of welcome and love in her home and I always enjoyed our visits. I will remember her as a loving aunt with a beautiful smile. My prayers will be with the family that she has left behind - her loss will be felt deeply. I pray for God's peace and strength as He holds you all in his arms. - Posted by: Angela Martial (Niece) on: Jan 21, 2014

  • My heartfelt sympathy to you Klaus and the whole family at this time of deep sorrow and grief. I am so thankful for the decades of precious memories that are in my heart of our dear Alma! During all our many visits when we always stayed at the fabulous Ristau Hotel, we made sure to have long, meaningful, sometimes into the night, fun face-to-face conversations - about our faith journey, our children, recently our grandchildren, memories of our parents, gardening, baking, cooking, good books, good shows, wonderful friendships - you name it, we discussed it. Our last words on the phone to each other were, "I love you!" I will hear those words echoed in my heart and treasure them always. May God's Holy Spirit comfort you ALL in supernatural ways as only He can. Lots of love always, Karin - Posted by: Karin Ristau (sister-in-law and friend!) on: Jan 20, 2014

  • I have so many dear memories of Tante Alma. We would often times come for visits at Christmas and summer and I loved spending time chatting with Tante Alma, she always had soft words or fun words...always honest and caring. She could be counted on for meaningful hugs when you needed them or practical advice when that was what was needed. Her smile would light up a room and her eyes always twinkled with attention. Her reputation for talent in knitting and sewing and cooking will forever hold strong...even my daughter remembers fondly receiving two special nightgowns that she loved for years and are now loved by another young girl who's little sister is waiting for her turn because they love them. Probably because they were made by loving hands from a precious, precious lady. - Posted by: Evi Krahn (Niece) on: Jan 20, 2014
