Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I did not know John Werstiuk, I happened to come upon his life story while reading the paper. I believe john Werstiuk is a cousin of my father, Sam Werstiuk, whose parents were Augustina Rudik and Joesph Werstiuk. My father was born in Poplarfield and homesteaded there with his parents and siblings. Unfortunately my father recently passed on December 26, 2013 and my mother, Mrytle (maiden name Pagee) does not really remember everyone as we have been gone from Manitoba since 1970. the only other living relative from my father's side is his sister, Helen, who I have contacted to ask her about our family history. this tribute to John reflects my father as well, he will be remembered for his passion and contribution to everyone around him. God Bless. I would be very interestet to connect with anyone who would be interested also to connect the long lost dots if there are any. Sincerely, and my condolences and I feel for my loss as well, Carrol Werstiuk. - Posted by: Carrol Werstiuk (daughter of Sam Werstiuk - cousin to John Werstiuk) on: Jan 24, 2014

  • Our condolences to Johns family. Every Saturday morning when visiting my mom. John would always be at mom's door to give us an update of what has happened on the unit for the week. His first words to me would be how are you senior and where is junior. He always talked about his family. He would invite us into his room and show us all his family photos that always had a story to them. I must say John was quite the Character and became a big part of our family. We will miss you very much John. Rest In Peace. Till we meet again Someday. xoxoxo - Posted by: Jim, Deborah, Joyce ((Joyce my moms neighbour D2 ward Middlechuch Home)) on: Jan 21, 2014

  • My mom was at Middlechurch and that is how I met John. I would always visit my mom at lunch time so my friendship with John started in the lunchroom. Once we got to know each other, every time I walked in the lunchroom (usually twice a week) John would have a smart remark for me. His sense of humor, quick wit, sparkling eyes amd smile were infectious. Every season I would decorate the lunchroom windows with stickers, my fondest memory will be John always knowing exactly when I was going to change them and take a few for his mirror in his room. My mom passed the day before John, it gives me great comfort in knowing they will both have a friend waiting for them. My condolences to the family he was very proud of you. Rest In Peace John. - Posted by: Debbie K. (Friend at Middlechurch) on: Jan 21, 2014
