Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMADELEINE LANDRY (nee FARBACHER) Peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Actionmarguerite (Foyer Valade), Madeleine Landry passed away at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Germain (1996), her parents Gaston (1979) and Jeannie (nee Floch) (1987), her daughter Germaine (2008), her son-in-law Michael (1998), and her sisters Jeannine (1992) and Marguerite (2004). Madeleine was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a good friend to all who knew her. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lorraine Lafrenière, son-in-law Louis Beaudin; grandchildren Louise Beaudin (Jason Brown), Michel (Lisa) Beaudin, Marie Beaudin (Chris Ritchie), Alain Beaudin (Effie MacKinnon), Lynette (Greg) Buchanan and Daniel (Alex) Lafrenière; great-grandchildren Zacharie, Quinn and Xander Brown, Alasdair and Murdoch Buchanan, Max Beaudin, Madeleine Ritchie as well as a great-grandson expected January 29. She is also survived by her brother Paul (Marge) Farbacher, and numerous nieces and nephews. Madeleine was born on the farm in Springside, SK on October 25, 1918. She later moved to Saskatoon to pursue a nursing career. She met and married Germain Landry and moved to the Landry family farm in 1945. Nursing was a passion, working at the Lorne Memorial Hospital all while taking care of her family for over 25 years. Even after retiring in 1983, she became a dedicated home care worker in Somerset for several more years. Mom always had a hot meal ready for lunch and supper. We will remember her gardening, playing cards with family and friends as well as spending countless hours knitting. Many will remember receiving mittens and slippers made by Madeleine. Her faith was a very important part of her life as it helped her cope with the sudden passing of Germain and the deaths of Germaine and Michael. The family would like to thank the entire staff for their exceptional care given to our Mom/Grandma during her stay at Foyer Valade. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1 at the Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité Church in Somerset, MB. Private family interment to follow at the Somerset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madeleine's memory to the Lorne Memorial Hospital Foundation, Box 40, Swan Lake, MB R0G 2S0. "Enjoy that game of cards. You deserve your eternal rest."
