Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWERNER HEFTRICH With sadness, we announce the death of Werner Heftrich, our Dad and Opa, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Werner passed peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Werner was predeceased by his wife Wilhelmine (Helen). Mourning him are his daughters: Carol (Ian) and Diana (Ed); and grandchildren, Toby (RobYn), Laina, Colin (Lindsey) and Lauren. Werner was born in Mühlbach, Germany, July 15, 1921. He moved to Canada in 1951, followed by Helen in 1952. They settled in Winnipeg, where they married and built a life together. They lived in the same house on Agnes Street for 48 years, and owned and operated the Buy Well Meat Market on Ellice Avenue. After Helen's passing, Werner moved to Lions Place where he was very happy and particularly enjoyed the friendships he made and the camaraderie of the Day Club. Werner had a lifelong passion for performing, especially singing, and received many compliments for his distinctive baritone voice. Werner also found great joy and a sense of community at the German Club, where he played cards every Saturday for the past 40 years with the same group of friends, including close friends Andy and Gerhard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or to the Lions Place Adult Day Club, 320 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2W6. A private family memorial will be held to honour our Dad and Opa. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
