MARLENE MARGARET ROSS (LAXDAL) -
Date of Passing: Jan 27, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARLENE MARGARET ROSS (LAXDAL) 1939 - 2014 Surrounded by love, on Monday, January 27, 2014, Marlene took her son Douglas' hand and joined him in the ever-after, at the age of 74. Marlene is survived by her husband of 51 years, James, sons Keith, Richard (Christine) daughter Liane (Ed), five grandchildren, sister Elaine (Bjarney), brother Ronald (Flo) and numerous nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Riverton, Manitoba, she moved to Winnipeg where she met the love of her life, Jim. They began their life journey on the Ross farm near Dugald, Manitoba. Together, the family spent summers at their cottage in Wendigo, which quickly became part of Marlene's soul. She worked many years as a school librarian, was an avid gardener and farm wife. In retirement, they enjoyed winters in Texas, where late in life she made lifelong friends. The most important things to Marlene were her family, friends and neighbours. The family extends a special thank you to each of you that helped throughout her illness, and a special thank you to Dr. Jonathon Wong and the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their optimum care. According to Marlene's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We will love you forever Mom. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

I've had a strange feeling I needed to find Keith, we were friends when we attended RRCC back in the day. A quick search and I found that Marlene had recently passed away. A wonderful woman, always an open door for me and a much needed breakfast ready after Keith and I had been on a youthful tear the night before. Great memories of the farm, the cottage, and breaking bread with the whole Ross clan. My sincerest condolences to Jim and the kids. - Posted by: Mike Parker (Friend of the family) on: Mar 05, 2014

Jim and family, I am so very saddened by the passing of Marlene, Mom, or how I will always affectionately remember her as "the Ross leader". There are no words that can be spoken to lessen the grief that you all must be feeling. Know that she was loved dearly by the girls and I and we often remember thankfully of all the love and support that she and the rest if the family provided to the girls and I. She is in a place where she no longer hurts and can peacefully watch over all of us. God bless you all and send healing to your hurting hearts and speed mom on her way. - Posted by: Julie Ross (Friend ) on: Feb 09, 2014

On behalf of the Porter family, we would like to wish the Ross family our deepest condolences. I have many fond memories of spending weekends at the family farm or at the lake.
