Uncle Peter was my favorite uncle, even though I wasn't related to him. He always had a chocolate bar for us or a big dish of his famous macaroni baked pasta. Even though he always put too many onions in it, he loved to cook for us. When he found out I liked lamb chops, he made them almost every time we went there for dinner. He always greeted us with a smile and a joke. His sense of humor was incredible, even if his health wasn't. I still remember going to his house as a little girl and watching his millions of VHS movies and falling asleep on the couch while mom and dad, Peter and Leda sat and talked all night. Whenever the phone would ring, it was usually you, just to talk to mom. Both Lauren and I always loved you like an uncle, and to us you will always be our favorite uncle. I know you are happy up in heaven, making friends, hitting on the other angels, and catching up on old times with Auntie Leda. Love you. - Posted by: Jennifer Lansky (Honorary Niece) on: Feb 13, 2014

Uncle Peter was one of my favourite people in the world. As a kid, I always loved it when he came over to our house because he always treated my sister and I so kindly (and always made us laugh with his silly jokes). I loved going over to his house and looking at all his loons, or watching movies with him. As a child, I remember looking at all his movies and thinking that Uncle Peter was a pretty cool dude for having such a great collection of films. I fondly remember going over to Uncle Peter's house in East Selkirk and jumping on his hay bales as a teenager. At night, he delighted my friends and I by melting different kinds of metal over a bonfire to make amazing colourful art. My friends often asked, "Can we go over to your Uncle's house?" He stole the hearts of everyone I knew. I also remember going to "Paradise Village" to visit Uncle Peter's trailer, for a Ukrainian "Malanka" celebration with all the trailer park retirees. Uncle Peter was so excited to have us over that day, and we enjoyed it immensely (and it was over at an appropriate time, too! Things were packed up by 5 pm, if I remember correctly...) The world will not be the same without you, Uncle Peter. I think of you often. You changed my life for the better. Thank you for everything. - Posted by: Lauren (Honorary Uncle) on: Feb 10, 2014

Sympathy to all of Peter's family. Peter Sr. and Jr. were responsible for bringing Junior 'A' hockey to Steinbach in the 80's. They provided me with an opportunity that I will not forget. Thank you. - Posted by: Chris Marshall (Steinbach Hawks hockey player) on: Feb 10, 2014

Our deepest sympathies to Peter, Sharon and their families, I remember many parties and good times with Peter, Lee, my folks and other family members and friends. Peter always had something to say and sometimes would be a little gruff, but he had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. By now you must be having a beverage with all your Star buddies. Rest in peace Peter, you will be missed. - Posted by: Debbie & Randy Fiebelkorn (family friends) on: Feb 08, 2014

With deepest sympathy we share your loss. We will miss you Peter. You were a true friend and Uncle Peter to Jen and Lauren. We laughed with you, we cried with you and we shared life events with you. You were always only a phone call away whenever we needed you. You have left us with so many great memories that will remain with us forever. - Posted by: Lawrence and Doreen Unik (Close Friends) on: Feb 07, 2014

Always on a even keel, straight up and patient. That was Peter. I worked for Peter and Leda for quite a while at the Star Hotel in East Selkirk. They were always fair and understanding people. My thoughts are with the family at this time of grief. A great man and grandfather will be sorrowfully missed. - Posted by: Donna Toews(Sveinson) (exemployee at the Starr Hotel that Peter and Leda owned for many years.) on: Feb 05, 2014

My deepest sympathy to all of Peter's family. He spoke of you so often with such pride and love. I last saw Peter this past summer at Lawrence's retirement party. That mischievous twinkle was still present in his eye and, even after all he had been through, he still had a few priceless jokes to share with everyone. He won't be forgotten. - Posted by: Donna Mock (friend) on: Feb 05, 2014
