Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTANIA GIBSON September 8, 1923 - February 6, 2014 Early in the morning of Thursday, February 6, 2014 Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep and went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. From a very young age, she committed her life to Christ and her faith in God was rewarded by seeing that same faith grow in her children and in their families. Through her example and the courage and determination with which she faced life Mom taught us the value of putting faith and obedience in action and leaving the consequences to God. She was a committed Christian who taught Sunday School and provided leadership to her church seniors group. Her home was also a place where she welcomed everyone who needed encouragement and support. Mom was born the 10th child of a family of 14 whose parents were John and Mary Wishnowski, homesteaders in Malonton, Manitoba. She received her early education at Streigh School and in later life returned to complete her high school education and went on to become a social worker for the Province of Manitoba. This gave her the opportunity to serve many in the Ukrainian community and to demonstrate the caring and giving heart that we all knew her to possess. Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill Gibson who passed away in August, 1985. She is survived by her sister Nettie (Bob) Fright, daughter Marlene (Gordon) Bjorgan, sons Charles (Janice) and Murray (Debby): five grandchildren Tammy (Doug), Bond (Melissa), Carmen (Trevor), Kara (Emmanuel), Kristen (Ray), and eight great-grandchildren. Mom's later years were spent in Winnipeg at Lindenwood Manor and most recently in Calvary Place. Our family would especially like to thank the staff of Calvary Place who demonstrated love and compassion during her stay. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m., at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon, with viewing one hour before the service. Interment at Windsor Cemetery. Sincere condolences to Tania's family as I recall her and the inspirational influence she had in my life at the Tabernacle and in her home which was always open and inviting. Such fond memories only - of conversations that always came to rest on the Bible and how she drew strength from knowing God was always there for her, and of course the fresh baking and tea which always came out. Tania was very real and somehow was able to communicate without complaining how tough things were at times, but how very real to her was her God and the angels who He has commanded to watch over and protect us. May God comfort and surround the family now as they let her go knowing she is with the One who works all things together for good for those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose. I had the privilege of assisting Tania in her home in Teulon for three years before she moved to the city. Each time I was there we would have a time of fellowship and have lunch together. She was a dear soul and truly a wonderful lady. - Posted by: Valerie Howard (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2014
