ANNE KARPINSKY (nee KUSHNIR) August 5, 1922 - February 1, 2014 Anne Karpinsky passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 91. She had lived a full life, in good health, until the last few years. Anne always marveled at the age that she attained, as both her brother and sister passed away before they were 70 years old. Anne was predeceased by her father John, mother Lily, brother Bill, sister Lena Maltman, and brother-in-law Roy Maltman. She is survived by her son Anthony (Tony), daughter-in-law Debbie Adamchuk, niece Gale Rivett (Arni Rivett) and their family, and nephew Roger Maltman and his family. Mom worked at Canadian Linen for 20 years until her retirement in 1987. She was born in Winnipeg and was a west end girl her whole life. In 2007 heart surgery precipitated her concerned family moving her to Dakota House. She never quite got used to living in the south end of Winnipeg, "I don't know this part of the city, it is not my neighbourhood" she would often say. She did, however, enjoy the companionship of her mealtime partners. She always appreciated the care that the staff provided. Mom was an avid reader and enjoyed the many libraries in Dakota House, especially when she found a Danielle Steele book she had not read. Mom lived a simple life, and that was by choice. She did not enjoy extravagances or people fussing over her. Her niece Gale sent Mom flowers for every special occasion, and while she enjoyed them as best she could, she always fussed about the expense and bother Gale went to. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the care and comfort they provided for Mom in her last days. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Mom had a great love for family pets, and could never understand how anyone could mistreat an animal. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9, or a charity of choice. While she will be missed, we take comfort in knowing she is now free of pain. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
