Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS CLARIAN LEADBEATER November 15, 1925 - February 13, 2014 To my family and friends, I would like to share a wee bit of my life journey with you, and I want you to know how much you all meant to me. I was born at my Aunt Cassie's home in Portage la Prairie on November 15, 1925. My Mom and Dad were Peter and Mabel Blair, who along with my siblings, Oscar Blair (infant), Vera (Dave) Regent, Vi (Harry) Gillespie, Thelma (Walter) Kelly, Lena (Herman) Bailey, Cecil (Doreen) Blair, Ken (June) Blair, Clinton (Emmie) Blair, Marjorie (Ed) Davidson, Shirley Blair (infant) and nephew Alvin Davidson, have predeceased me, and I am survived by 19 nieces and nephews and their families. I married Mel McWilliams in 1960, who passed away in 1974. After a few years, I met and married my guy, Roy Leadbeater in 1987, after which we shared our lives wintering in Tempe, Arizona and summers in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Roy passed away in January 2000. I had the privilege to work for Air Canada (TCA) as a loyal employee for 35 years, where I became friends with many colleagues, who I have kept in touch with over the years. During this time I was able to travel to many exotic and historic locations all over the world. Also in my younger years, fishing on summer weekends, curling in the winter, and later on, golfing with Roy in Tempe, Arizona and Winnipeg filled my retirement years, again making many friends who are still a big part of my life. After a short illness, I left you all on Thursday morning, February 13, at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre with family by my side. At my direction, I have been cremated, with a memorial service to be held in early summer, on a date to be yet determined. It is my wish that in my memory, donations may be made to The Manitoba Camping Association Sunshine Fund, 302-960 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R4, to help underprivileged children attend camps and activities. At Phyllis' request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in early summer. This kind soul and most wonderful woman was always known to me as Aunty....as she always said she was too young to be called Grandma. She married my Grandpa back in 1974. I miss her and wish she was here to tell me more stories. She always was dressed to the nines, head to toe in the classic dress wear, usually purple or red. Phyllis was a great lady. Best friend, neighbor and golfing partner. Her wit and humor will sorely be missed but not forgotten. Our condolences to all her family. Very much enjoyed my 34 years of working with (CAPT.) Phyllis both in and out of the Flight Ops Office and am saddened by her passing.
