JUDITH DAPHNE EASTMAN (nee MONKMAN) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother, Judy, on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at the age of 68, after a final, brief battle with cancer. Judy is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 47 years, Halli, daughters Sheila and Audra (Andy), son Jason, and beloved grandsons Alerik and Aulden. Among those waiting on the other side to greet Judy are her parents, Victor and Priscilla Monkman, sisters Muriel and Velma (Richard) and nephew Ritchie, and mother-in-law Una Eastman. Judy was born and raised at Loon Straits, Manitoba. She and Halli met at a hockey game in Riverton and made their home in Arborg. Although working and raising a family often kept her away from the lake, the love of it never left her. Mom loved to laugh and faced every challenge thrown at her with grace and dignity, beating breast cancer first at age 43, and again at age 57. She taught us how to be strong, to work hard, to treat others with respect, and most importantly, to laugh and enjoy the gift of life. Mom loved to dance and rarely missed the opportunity to do so. The last five years we were lucky enough to spend our summers gazing at the lake with our beautiful Mom, reliving old memories and making wonderful new ones. Those memories will sustain us as we try to move forward without our beloved Judy. Judy is survived by brothers Lester (Dawn) and Brian (Anna), and sisters Wendy (Bert), Jeannie and Marlene. The family wishes to thank the staff at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult time. God Bless you Mom. We will never forget your strength, courage, beauty and love. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, 301 River Road, Arborg, Manitoba. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Mackenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements. 204-467-2525
