JOHN DENNIS CHERNETSKY November 20, 1925 - February 13, 2014 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and grandfather. John was predeceased by his wife Violet (nee Magis), mother Mary Andrews, father William Chernetsky, stepfather Thomas Andrews, brother William Chernetsky, brother-in-law Bert Gregg. John leaves to mourn his passing, four stepchildren John Galbraith, Danniel Gathbraith, Robert Gagnon, and Dina DePauw (Craig), five grandchildren, Jennifer, Valerie (William), Mary (Tyler), Kayla and Dion. John also leaves seven great-grandchildren, sisters Violet Gregg (Bert) and Bunny Buchan (John), nephews Doug and Wesley Gregg and two nieces Brenda Trach (Warren) and Barbra Chernetsky, as well as many other family members and friends. John's constant companion, Darling, will also mourn the passing of a great friend. John grew up on the family farm in Libou, MB. When he was old enough, he got a job as a heavy duty mechanic working at B.A.C.M. where he worked beside his brother for 20 years. After B.A., John went to Mulders Construction, also as a mechanic but also travelled to various job sites within and out of province. Before retirement, John worked as a mechanic at Wakshinski Bros. Construction until he retired. In the younger years, John enjoyed his family, fishing, camping, and boating. John also took great pride in his lawns and gardens. Special thanks to the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for all of their care and understanding to John's needs and the family's as well. Also a very special thank you to granddaughter Mary, who took such good care of her Papa over the years, and to nephews Doug and Wesley, who came down to help uncle John with anything that needed to be fixed or repaired, or just to drop by for a visit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Humane Society. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment to follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111
