Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS (GLADY) FORSHAW 1924 - 2014 Glady passed away peacefully on February 14, 2014, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 89 surrounded by loving family. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her five children: Ron, Diane (Doug), Janice (Ken), Susan (Dave) and Brenda (Reg), six grandchildren: Tracy (Kelly), Arlene (Vinh), Melissa, Cheryl (Vincenzo), Trevor and Kevin, two step-grandchildren: Jesse and Scott, and three great-grandchildren: Derek, Dylan and Emily. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jack and Ken, sister Edie, brother-in-law Earle (Joyce), good friend Marlene, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, sisters Helen, Hilda, Hazel, Joan, and one brother, Hector. Glady was born on November 27, 1924 and was the daughter of Ethel and Alan Vicars. She was always known for her meticulous appearance and her auburn hair. As a child, she took tap dancing lessons for only one year but remembered what she learned many years later and would delight her grandchildren by showing them the steps. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre and continued her education at Success Business College. Soon after she got married in 1945, she moved to Flin Flon, where she was an avid bowler. Her high three game score was not broken for many years. When they moved back to Winnipeg in 1959, she continued to bowl over the years. At the age of 37, she was widowed with five children ages five to 15 years old. As a strong and caring woman, she devoted her life to focus on her children and instilled strong morals and values. She always tried to do the right thing. If someone ever needed help, she was sure to lend a hand. Glady went back to work in retail and her favourite position was in women's clothes at Eatons where she remained until her retirement in 1979. Glady belonged to the Atlantic-Garden City United Church for many years. She had been involved in an outreach group and volunteered in several areas of the church while her health allowed. She enjoyed crafts, crossword puzzles and listening to music but by far her favourite activity was spending time with her family. She lived at Amber Meadow for over 14 years and encountered some wonderful friends, staff and home care workers. The family would like to thank all the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital - Dialysis Unit for the kind, compassionate care given to Mom for almost ten years. She liked talking to the staff about their life and getting to know them. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Atlantic-Garden City United Church, 725 Atlantic Avenue. A private family interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation -Dialysis Unit or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111

I have been friends with Brenda, one of Mrs. Forshaw's daughters, since I was in grade 3. I spent a lot of time in that busy house of children, and her mom was so elegant, and seemingly always calm in every situation. I will remember how much she loved being with all her children, and how well she raised everyone on her own. A tough strong lady! I am so very glad I knew her. - Posted by: Carolyn Gillespie (friend of family) on: Feb 22, 2014
