Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABEL ELIZABETH MARIA EWANYSHYN (nee HNATIUK) Mom passed away peacefully after battling a long illness on the evening of February 17, 2014 at Riverview Health Centre. Her loving husband of 57 years was by her side as she passed. She was 77 years of age although she always claimed she was 29 and holding. Mom was born on July 28, 1936 on a farm outside Goodeve, Saskatchewan to parents Dmytro and Mary Hnatiuk (nee Kulikowich). She was the third youngest of 20 siblings. She was predeceased by her parents as well as siblings Tania, Michael, Mike (Clarence), Olga, Ann, Walter, Anthony, Joseph, Terry and Russ. She is survived by siblings John, Eleanor, Paul, Kae, Peter, William, Eugene, Cecilia and Jerry. Family was everything to my Mom. She leaves her devoted husband Robert, as well as her children Barb (Colin) and Bruce. She also leaves her two dear granddaughters Morgan and Allison whom she loved dearly. She was intensely proud of everything her family accomplished. Mom loved the outdoors. She loved her garden full of vegetables and flowers that she tended to with care. She also loved to camp and spent many wonderful evenings by the campfire with dad and many dear friends. It was hard on Mom when they had to give up the trailer because of failing health. Mom was an amazing homemaker and cook. Nobody went hungry when they were a guest at her table. She made terrific buns, muffins, pasta and especially perogies. Memories will never fade of Mom making perogies with her daughter and teaching the art to her granddaughters. Oh how we will miss those fresh perogies and mommie muffins! Mom spent her last few months in Assisted Living at Lindenwood Manor. A very special thank you to the staff and palliative care nurses who helped Mom to be as comfortable as possible. As she needed more care than the community could provide she spent her last days at Riverview Health Centre. Thank you to the most amazing group of people there. You made her last 11 days of life bearable to her painless final hours. To all of you who touched our hearts - thank you. A memorial service in Mom's honour will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Riverview Health Centre - 3 East in Mom's memory. I'm very sorry to hear of Mrs. Ewanyshyn's passing. Although I haven't seen her in many years I always remember her energy and her beautiful yard. She was always cooking something. In August 2012 the Lord blessed this Texan with a beautiful new friendship with Isabel Ewanyshyn. She made such a lovely impact on my life. She was the most perfect hostess and lavished the sweetest love upon me. I will cherish my visits with her there in Canada. Our worship time, tea time and her momma muffins were such special treats. When I think of her sweet little laughter it brings a smile to my face. I have been so very blessed and honored to have come to know the Ewanyshyn family. My heart and prayers go out to her precious, beloved Robert, her most devoted son Bruce, her beautiful and devoted daughter Barb & Family. This beautiful lady will never be forgotten and the legacy she leaves behind speak volumes as to whom she was. She may have been small in stature but a giant in the love and care she projected to others. I will miss my sweet friend but I have great joy in knowing that we will see each other again some day in Glory with our Lord Jesus for all eternity. Bye for now sweet Liz. A gentle, loving woman has left us to take her place in heaven. We will miss her tremendously. Her kind spirit supplied us with plenty of muffins over the many years we knew her. Now she'll be passing them around to saints and other angels. Go with God my dear one, we'll miss your bright smile. Mrs. Ewanyshyn was a wonderful woman who always made me feel like another son when I would visit with her son, Bruce, when I was back in John Taylor High School. Always patient, always kind, she will be very much missed.
