VICKIE SCHILLING Our dear mother passed away on February 19, 2014 at a great age of 95, still caring for herself, her house and her garden. Her car has only been parked for the past year. She is predeceased by her husband, a brother, and a son-in-law Brian. Our mother grew up on a farm in the Souris area along with her parents and two brothers. Vickie graduated from the Misericordia School of nursing in 1940. She then went on to have three daughters who also graduated from the same hospital. Marlene - 1964, Helen - 1965, and Lorraine - 1966. She has two sons-in-law Tom and Don. Our mother had the privilege and joy of seeing nine grandchildren grow up to be mature and respectful adults. She also has eight great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included playing cards, gardening, knitting, reading and watching sports of all kind. She socialized with her neighbours and we would like to thank Gladys, Liz and Don for keeping an eye on her for the past several years. In keeping with mom's wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will follow at a later date. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

  • We are very sad about your passing Vickie. We are going to miss you terribly. You were more than a neighbor to us, you were a dear friend. We were lucky to have such a terrific lady to be our neighbor. Thank you for taking our garbage and recycling over the years and watching over our house when we were not home. Thank you for sharing all those delicious apples from your apple tree, we ate them till the Winter time. Vicki,e I will never forget when you let me know that my mom went into the hospital and passed away and you stayed over to watch over my kids till we came home from that difficult night. You were a true friend and we are grateful to have had such a special lady as a friend and neighbor. We will miss you terribly Vickie. Rest in peace. Love Liz and Don - Posted by: Don and Liz (neighbor) on: Feb 22, 2014

  • We are going to miss talking to your mom. I used to laugh at the conversations she and my dad had over the fence. She was always showing me things around her house and telling me the history behind them. I am truly happy she no longer is in pain. The last few months were indeed a time where we all felt helpless. My condolences to all of you. - Posted by: Laurie Hill (Neighbour) on: Feb 22, 2014
