HENRI (HANK) LEMOINE November 10, 1927 - February 17, 2014 Peacefully and after a lengthy illness, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on February 17, 2014 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Antoinette (Thibault), his brother Jean, his sisters, Jeanne and Henriette (Guy) Rocan. Henri leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 60 years, Brenda (Lockhart); children, Henry (Kim), Deb (Marcel), Rick (Janet) and David; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Jennie), Christine (Jake), Karen (Adam), Shelby, Natalie, Ryan, Aaron, one great-grandchild Charlee Brooke, and several nieces and nephews. Henri will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Sam (Irene), his sister-in-law Andrée and very close family friends Kristen, Keith and Finn Wilson. Dad was born and raised in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba. In 1949, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba. While playing amateur hockey in Pine Falls, MB, he was scouted and recruited to play professional hockey in Scotland with the Murrayfield Royals. He met Brenda while in Scotland and in 1954 they were married and travelled home to live in Winnipeg. Dad's happiest moments in life were spent working in his garden. Hank had a strong work ethic and genuinely believed in the value of people and friendship. He had a kind heart, and cared more for the feelings of others above his own, right up to his final moments on earth. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the caring staff of the Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henri's memory to a charity of your choice. In accordance with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca Desjardins 233-4949 1-888-233-4949

Condolences & Memories (15 entries)

  • When transferred to Winnipeg with the HBC, we soon heard of Hank, and I was invited to curl with him in the men's evening league at St. Vital Club. As well Judy curled with Brenda there for years. I also had occasion to curl against Henri in the Saturday Morning Bay curling league, and usually lost. The evening league usually adjourned upstairs after the game for a review, and a few "pops". There were also many good pre-banquet get togethers, and other curling related parties. Hank was a great person who took you in as a friend, and was well regarded by all, especially those who worked with him. He was devoted to his family, and a loyal Company man. He will be missed. • In 1991 I travelled to Canada from Australia where I met the most wonderful family. My friendship with Hank AKA ‘The Candy Man’ was unique and memorable in so many ways. Hank bullied me about my accent, but I forgave him at the end of his working day when he came home with candy … even if he did try to poison me with sour gum balls. He took me to my first ice hockey game where I learned that it was his love of hockey that led him to the love of his life. My deepest sympathy to that love Brenda and the family. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Karen Baker AKA 'Kazza' (Australian friend) on: Mar 04, 2014

  • I have known Hank since 1967. We worked together at Hudson’s Bay Wholesale. We worked, played, fished, and drank together. Hank was probably HBC’s best salesman, his customers were his best friends and they thought the world of him. I did not know Hank was ill as I have not been in contact for a few years. I will never forget Hank as he was a kind and true Friend. RIP - Posted by: Tom Hamilton (Past Co-worker) on: Feb 25, 2014

  • We've known Hank & Brenda for many years & what a perfect couple they were. Brenda, I felt so sad when I saw that he had passed away. He was an inspiration to a lot of us & yes he always had a twinkle in his eyes. It had to come from being a husband, father, grandpa & great-grandpa to you & your family. We will miss him & I know that he left his mark on this earth. Love Lea & David. - Posted by: Lea & David Menard (Friend) on: Feb 24, 2014

  • Our sincere condolences to Brenda and the rest of Hank's family at this time... especially Deb and Marcel. Hank was a great guy and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by Leo and I. We met him very soon after we became neighbors of his daughter Deb and visited with him on many occasions. I loved his great sense of humor and that twinkle in his eye... especially if I had fudge for him! Turns out Hank and Leo's dad were friends - all born in Ste Agathe! Small World after all! Love and Hugs - Rest in Peace Hank! - Posted by: Margaret Glew and Leo Girouard (Friends) on: Feb 23, 2014

  • I met Henri many years ago when we worked together at Hudson Bay Wholesale and then again together at Coremark. He was such a wonderful kind man. I lost touch with him about 18 years ago and always wondered how he was doing. My condolences to the family. He was a beautiful man. - Posted by: Charlene Purcell (co worker) on: Feb 22, 2014

  • Que de beaux moments passés en compagnie de Hank dans notre quincaillerie à St-Pierre-Jolys! Il entrait dans le magasin comme une bouffe d'air fraîche. Son rire contagieux nous manquera. - Posted by: Raymond et Nicole Lavergne (Our most respected salesman) on: Feb 22, 2014

  • Dear Dad, In honour of Family Day, February 17, 2014, the day God called you home, I am moved by the impact a Father has on the life of his daughter. You've been the perfect Dad for me as you taught me the life lessons I needed to learn... as well as how to curl, how to throw a baseball, how to ride a bike and for the "sales training". Your wisdom is gold to me! I turned 58 today and no matter how old I am, I will always be your "little girl". With love everlasting, Deb - Posted by: Deb Perreault (Daughter) on: Feb 22, 2014
