NELL (NELLIE) PARTYKA
Born: Mar 26, 1920
Date of Passing: Feb 19, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELL (NELLIE) PARTYKA March 26, 1920 - February 19, 2014 Peacefully, Nell passed away on February 19 with her family by her side. She is survived by her daughter Carol Fraser (David), son Melvin (Anita), grandchildren, Aynsley Kiernicki (Ryan), Andrew Fraser (Danielle), Michael Partyka, Chantelle Partyka, beloved great-grandsons Jack and Lucas, sister Olive Bosiak, brother-in-law Hank (Elsie), and sister-in-law Sophie Partyka, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Michael, parents, John and Dora, sisters Ann, Mary, Carol and Adeline, and brothers Leonard, Mike, Frank, Tony, and Joe. Nell had a heart of gold, and was admired for her selflessness, kindness, honesty, humour, and tenacity. She always enjoyed sports, and played "in a league of her own", the Coca-Cola softball team in the Dauphin area. Mom was an amazing cook, and her dainty and delicate perishke took center stage at every special occasion. Beyond her many specialities, she was constantly trying and perfecting new recipes. Similarly, she enjoyed tending her flower garden, always adding new varieties and plants. Nell was a self-professed "news addict", avidly following the daily news, especially current events, politics and sports. Above all, Nell loved her family, immediate and extended, passionately. She was truly an amazing Baba, lovingly babysitting, feeding, and following her grandchildren's lives with seemingly endless energy. When her health declined, she faced the challenges bravely, and still worried about everyone else first. She was our family's beating heart, and will be forever lovingly remembered and missed. Rest in peace Baba we'll be okay. Divine Liturgy for Nell will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie Avenue in North Kildonan. Dear Mel, Anita & Family: Our sincerest condolences in your loss of your mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. We remember our visit out to St. Laurent at your family cottage, and what a wonderful lady she was. She will also be remembered. The extended family has lost one of its kindest hearts. Aunt Nell brought warmth, humour and a keen interest in life to all her relationships. And what a beautiful, genuine smile she always had for all of us! Our hearts go out to you, Carol and Mel, and your families. Your mom was cherished and loved by us and by so many others. We hope you find comfort in that. We will miss her, and we share in your sadness.
