MARY LAURA BJORNSON (nee STOYANOWSKI) March 25, 1925 - February 16, 2014 It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother on February 16, 2014. Predeceased by parents Dominic and Regina Stoyanowski, and husband Thomas Bjornson. Leaves to mourn daughter Rosemary Thorkelson (Philip) grandsons Conrad and Jason, son Thomas (Shelley) grandsons Daniel, Eric (Robyn), Mark (Heidi), James (Nahyun) and great-grandchildren, Kristjan, Hayden, and Karlie. A special thank you to Daniel for his devotion to his grandmother. All the grandchildren will miss the entertaining games of Uno played with their grandmother. Mary enjoyed her married life along the Icelandic river with her husband Tom, raising their family, farming and gardening. She operated a Greenhouse, sold flowers and vegetables. She was a book of knowledge when it came to plants. Many people would phone her for advice on how to cook, plant, etc. The coffee pot was always on and no one left the house hungry. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and enjoyed knitting. She prided herself in that she won first prize at the Arborg fair for her hand knitted Icelandic socks made from wool that she carded and spun. Talented was the only way to describe her. Thanks to Dr. Donnelley and the nursing staff at the Arborg Hospital for their care and kindness. Flowers are gratefully declined, If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Mom was a devoted mother and will be missed by all her family.
