Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUNE CECELIA MARTIN On Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Selkirk General Hospital, June Martin passed away at the age of 93 years. June was born June 1, 1920. She was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the second youngest of a family of five girls. Her sisters were Verna, Hazel, Lily and May, all who have pre-deceased her. As a child, June lived on Gallagher Avenue and later married the love of her life Bill Martin. Gary her first of two children was born in 1948 and her daughter Lois was born in 1951. They were both raised on Dominion Street. June Loved her neighbourhood and her home and remained there for approximately 62 happy years.. As a young woman, she worked at Eaton's and then as her family grew she had a part-time job at Sears. In her youth, June enjoyed roller skating, bowling and later in life was an avid curler. Her favourite place in the world was Grand Beach, Manitoba and that was where she met her future husband Bill at the age of 17. June loved the boardwalk and especially the dance hall and the moonlight shining on the water. She fondly remembered the train that brought them to the beach for nights of dancing, the Moonlight Special. Mom and dad owned a cottage on 4th Avenue which remains to this day. Mom had a sweet tooth and enjoyed desserts better than dinner especially waffles topped with lots of ice cream and strawberries. In 2012, mom moved to Woodlands Court in Selkirk, Manitoba. She loved it there and formed special friendships with Astrid, Beth and Lee. She lived there until her stroke on December 12, 2013. Mom was a beautiful person inside and out with an ever present positive attitude. Mom's biggest treasure was her precious family. Her son Gary (Linda) gave her a grandson Rob (Raquel) who have two beautiful daughters Emma and Natalie. Their daughter Jackie (Dylan) have a son Jamie. June's daughter Lois (Bill) gave her a grandson Billy (Amanda) who have two beautiful daughters Sophie and Payton and granddaughter Leslie (Tom) who have a precious daughter Kailey. Mom's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the biggest joys in her life. Mom you are so treasured and will be dearly missed....never forgotten and always in our hearts. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Selkirk General Hospital who gave her loving care. With love and appreciation to Cousins Code and Barb Clements for their devotion to mom. A celebration of mom's life to follow at a later date. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Although I did not see Mrs. Martin much growing up I knew her to be very kind. Her daughter and my sister have been lifelong friends. I last saw her at my mother's funeral. She gave me a big hug. Thanks Mrs. Martin for that motherly hug. May you see all your sisters and your husband Bill in your new life in heaven. Les Welsh - Posted by: Les Welsh (Family friend) on: Mar 01, 2014

Dear Lois. I am so sad to hear of your mom's passing and know how terribly heart broken and empty you feel........ but you are right by feeling that she is at peace now and her soul has risen to meet your dad and all of the angels that have taken her hand. Your mom was a beautiful person inside and out........ you and your family certainly had the best in a mother and grandmother, always so proud and loving towards you all. Please know that we are thinking of you even though we are so far away and wish we could help in some way. Love and our deepest sympathy to you and Gary and both of your families. Lois, Bill and Family, We are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was always so welcoming to us when we came to Grand Beach, her kindness always shone through. We know what it is like to lose one's Mom, it leaves such an emptiness that seems like it will never go away. But you will find that the thoughts that make you cry now will one day make you smile. You are so fortunate to have such wonderful memories of your Mom, and those are yours to keep, nothing can take them away from you. Please pass on our condolences to all your family, and know that we are thinking about you at this difficult time. Dearest Lois, Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear about the loss of your mom. From the very first time I met her it was so obvious how much she loved you, Bill, Leslie and young Bill and then her grandchildren. I have rarely witnessed a bond between a mom and her daughter as strong and special as the one that you two have. My heart aches for you and though we are far apart in miles I hope you can feel my hugs and know that you and your family will always be in my prayers. May God bring you comfort and may you feel His presence at this time. Love Barb and Dale - Posted by: barb and dale henwood (friends) on: Feb 28, 2014

How glad we are now to have had such a wonderful visit with Aunt June before leaving for Arizona last November. What a lovely and gracious lady she was, but feisty too. We will remember her always with love and smile as we think of the laughter she shared with us. To Lois and Gary and their families, we send our love and deepest condolences. xoxo - Posted by: Ken and Connie Hemmett (nephew and "niece") on: Feb 26, 2014

Gary, we are so sorry to hear of your mother's passing, but we are aware that she was struggling with her health. She is now no longer burdened with any illness, and we hope that gives you, Linda and your family some peace of mind. She knew you and your family loved her dearly. We will remember her smile, as she was a beautiful "lady", inside and out. Always so gentle, kind and friendly. Grand Beach will be at a loss for such a lovey person. Take care, all of you, and know we are thinking of you, Linda and your family. Garry and Lynda - Posted by: Garry and Lynda Specht (Friends) on: Feb 25, 2014
