LAWRENCE RUSSEL LARSON March 21, 1947 - February 21, 2014. Unexpectedly, our devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Lawrence (Larry) Russel Larson passed away at the age of 66. Larry was a very generous, caring and meticulous person, who loved to laugh and joke. He loved being outdoors, gardening and exploring. He was a reflective person who enjoyed listening to music, reading, traveling and being with his family and friends. He was born in Winnipeg and raised with his three younger brothers on a farm near MacGregor, MB. He was a graduate of the University of Manitoba and later attended McGill, where he met his wife, Elizabeth. In December 1975, Larry and his family moved to Thompson, MB, where he worked as a geologist for Inco Exploration. He retired in 2002 to Poplar Point, MB. Larry leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth, his daughters Samantha and Laura (Jason) and his two grandsons, Lucas and Eric. He is sadly missed by his family, including his brothers, Sanford (Margaret), Brian (Barbara) and Daniel (Peggy), his two nieces Tamara and Ashley, his two nephews David and Daniel and his friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Mary. Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home in Portage la Prairie, MB. The service will terminate at the chapel and interment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to your local humane society. Those who know him will remember him lovingly. A tribute DVD in memory of Larry will be produced by the Omega Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba R1N 1T8, 1-800-303-4621 or friends may leave a message of sympathy on our website www.omegafuneralhome.com "Dedicated to those we serve."

  • Larry was a great guy to know and work with. I remember his great sense of humour. He made the T-1 Geology office a much better place to work in. He had a great mind and helped me out a number of times with his knowledge of Mathematics. He came up with the formula that we all used when drawing up 45 deg. sections at T-1. I'm sorry to hear we lost such a nice fellow INCO employee and at such a young age. I know he will be sadly missed by his family and many, many friends Take care Joe Kernaghan - Posted by: Joe Kernaghan (Fellow INCO employee) on: Mar 03, 2014
