Date of Passing: Feb 26, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySARA (SALLY) TATE On February 26, 2014 at the Health Science Centre, Sara (Sally) Tate (nee Rempel) aged 95, of Winnipeg. She is survived by her children, Peggy (Marty McArthur), Bob, Glen and her sister Neta Smith (nee Rempel); sisters-in-law, Ellie Rempel and Maureen Tate, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents, Jacob and Sara Rempel, brothers, Peter and wife Chris, Nick and wife Kay, Henry and Jack; sisters, Margaret, Lena and husband Ike, and little brother Abe. Sally was born September 16, 1918 in Nova Petrowka, South Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1925, eventually settling in Starbuck, Manitoba. In 1936, mom moved to Winnipeg where she would find employment in Eaton's Grillroom. It was at Eaton's where she would meet and marry the love of her life Bill, who was also employed by Eaton's, in their shoe department. They married in 1949 and soon after moved into a house on Clifton Street which would be not only home for the next 50 years, but also a place of love, laughter and childhood mishaps and triumphs. Mom and Dad loved to travel and spent time visiting family in England as well as touring through Europe, visiting her sister Neta in Mesa, Arizona and numerous trips out to the west coast to see her daughter Peg and husband Marty. After the passing of her husband Bill in 2003 she would move into Betelstadur Housing Co-op at 1061 Sargent Ave., where she would be re-connected with her best friend and neighbour of over 50 years, Dorothy Greer. Sally was a great spirit who seemed to touch everyone she met with the same grace, wit and generosity that is usually reserved only for family. She will be remembered and missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her life. The Service will take place Monday, July 7, 2014 at 12:00 noon at First Mennonite Church located on Notre Dame and Alverstone, in Winnipeg. The announcement of the service date to follow. The family wishes to express their thanks to all staff from the H.S.C. 4th floor ward where mom was a patient. Their level of care and compassion exceeded all expectations. Thank you. My heartfelt condolences to Sally's family. Sally was very dear to me, I miss having her as a neighbor but am very grateful that she was very particular in who she sold her house to. Lisa loves the house as much as Sally did. - Posted by: Joyce Horvath (Neighbor on Clifton St.) on: Mar 01, 2014
