Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW BARRIE CRUMP It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dad on February 28, 2014, at the Deer Lodge Centre. Left to cherish Dad's memory are his children, Maureen and Allan, their spouses Dan and Debbie, grandchildren Jamie, Scott, Andrew and Iain, as well as great-grandchildren Solomon and Casey. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Louise, on November 12, 2006. Dad was born December 5, 1920 in Winnipeg. He didn't have a particularly easy childhood, although he had an adventurous one. Riding his bicycle with friends to Emerson and back was an example. Dad was very good at mathematics, and a perfectionist at any job he encountered. Good enough was never in his vocabulary. Dad and Mum were married on March 22, 1941, while Dad was in the Air Force. They lived on Moncton Avenue in Morse Place for twenty years, until they moved to the house on Henderson Highway. Dad was a Sargeant in the Air Force, and served overseas in England, maintaining and repairing Lancaster's Merlin engines. Upon his return, Dad worked for Sterling Engine Works/Manwest Engineering until his retirement on August 31, 1984. Many friendships arose as a result of his time in the Air Force and at his workplace. Good times were had at the many visits to friends in Killarney, Manitoba. Mum and Dad enjoyed travelling wherever the road led them until Mum's health deteriorated. Special thanks to Bob Cooke, who, after Dad's retirement, maintained their long-standing social and professional relationship. We want to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for all their care and compassion to Dad while he was there. Also, a big thank you to 17 Wing of the Air Force for their generosity to Dad at Christmas, and to members of the Legion for their visits during his stay at Deer Lodge Centre. A service honouring Dad's memory will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
