Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTRAUD (WENDY) SOMMERFELD May 26, 1949 - March 3, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Wendy Sommerfeld (nee Witt) on March 3, 2014 surrounded by family. Wendy was born in Abbenburg, Germany on May 26, 1949 and came to Canada with her family in 1960. She leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Harry; son David Craig (Kathy) and beloved grandchildren Reegan and Charles; daughter Darcie (Bryan Grysiuk); siblings Arthur, Erika, Heidi (Lee Campbell); nieces and nephews; her mother Edit Witt and extended family. She will also be greatly missed my many lifelong friends and her furry companion Zeus. Wendy was predeceased by her father, Herbert in 2012. Wendy lived life to the fullest, enjoying gardening, reading, travelling and spending time with friends and family. She loved baking with Reegan and was so happy to welcome Charlie into the family this July. In recent years, she was truly enjoying retired life having the opportunity to travel to the U.S. and to the Dominican Republic. Wendy would like to thank friends and family for their loving concern and never ending support during her illness. Your kindness touched her heart in so many ways. Thank you as well to her medical team and caregivers. Wendy's final wishes were to leave this world with quiet dignity. The most important things in life for Wendy were her family and friends and she asks that when you gather your loved ones around you and hug one another, to remember her in your thoughts and prayers. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make an "in memory" donation on behalf of Wendy Sommerfeld at sogh.ca/foundation directing it to the Oncology Department. Condolences can be sent via www.friendsfs.ca

I will miss you my friend but will take my cup to the garden and meet you there. "Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." I will miss you and our outings to grab a nibble of cheesecake and a hot cup of tea. Conversation always flowed, often until someone in the restaurant would tell us they were closing. You were there for me as a shoulder to lean on. I only hope I was half the friend to you as you were to me. We sure shared some fantastic laughs, and a few tears along the way. I am very blessed to have had you as a friend in this life. Wendy, keep the kettle hot and watch for me, you never know when I'll show up with a cheesecake. I send my deepest condolences to Harry, Craig and Darci and your families, she talked about all of you often. Her grandchildren were her joy, her eyes sparkled when she talked about them.
