ISABELLE VIOLET WHITFORD (nee BONE) It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. At the age of 73 and after a lengthy battle with Diabetes and Heart Disease, Mom passed away in her home on Friday, March 7, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Roland; son Brion; parents Thomas and Suzette Bone; sisters Nora, Amelia, Nellie, and Muriellia; brother Toby; son-in-law John, and daughter-in-law Tina. Left to cherish her memory are her children John (Muriel), Roly (Victoria), Laureen and Susan; grandchildren John, Chris (Maxine), Dale, Joe (Jaclyn), Brion (Verna), Nicole (Mitch), Robyn-Rae (Roland) and Desiree (Ian); several great-grandchildren; sister Rachel Bone; numerous relatives; best friend in residential school Mary Houle, and close friend later in life Merdina Cameron. Isabelle Whitford was born on April 28, 1940 in Keeseekoowenin First Nation, MB, where she was raised until attending residential school in Birtle, MB at the age of eight years old then transferred to Sandy Bay School. It is in Sandy Bay where she met our dad Roland and married at the age of 14 years old. Isabelle and Roland moved to Winnipeg in 1960 and raised their family until her retirement 1991. Our mother took great pride in everything she did. She had a warped sense of humour and everyone who knew her knows what we are talking about. She had many passions: cooking and making wedding cakes, dancing, jigging and old time music. Isabelle and Roland would travel to various communities for fiddling and jigging contests where she won many medals and trophies for her talented jigging style. Her greatest passion was Bingo and she was known as Bingo Queen. When she would arrive in the Waywayseecappo Bingo Hall they would announce "The Queen is here all rise". Later in life she enjoyed watching cooking and gaming shows and Turner Classic Movies. Isabelle was married for 57 years until the passing of her husband Roland in May 2012. She was getting tired of traveling for Dialysis treatment and at this time we would like to thank the drivers who transported her on a regular basis. Her heart was lonely for her husband and many people who passed before her. Mom is now reunited with her loving husband. Our mother shared her wisdom and knowledge with many people throughout her life and was a great inspiration to us all. Isabelle will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. Wake Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Keeseekoowenin First Nation School with Deacon Conrad LaPlante officiating and at 7:00 p.m. at the Amaranth Community Hall. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of The Angels Catholic Church, Amaranth with Father José Cabral officiating. Interment will follow at the Haven of Rest Cemetery, Amaranth. Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone-MacGregor www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
