She was predeceased by her son Philippe (2006), her parents Norman (1984) and Irene (1988) Courtney, her brother David (1982), brother-in-law Jim Cahill, and her brother Paul, who passed away five days before her on March 4, 2014. She was also a deeply religious person who played an active role for many years in the St. Ignatius Parish community. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone in the ICCS Unit at the I.H. Asper Institute, as well as those in SICU at Health Sciences Centre, for their caring attention. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St., Winnipeg. The celebrant will be Father Gerry McDougall, sj. Dearest Albert and family, I came upon Diane's obituary just now. After not seeing you for a while at Pineridge Hollow, I became worried and my worries brought me here and confirmed the worst. I have no words strong enough, but I wanted to offer my deepest condolences. I always, always enjoyed seeing you and Diane. I so looked forward to serving you and catching up with you and I appreciated her always asking about my daughter, Ella, with such genuine interest and care. She was a light in my day and I will never forget her quick smile, warm hug and loving heart.. I'm keeping you all in my thoughts, on my heart and in my prayers. All my love, Brandy. - Posted by: Brandy Stelter () on: Jun 18, 2014

I have been trying to locate Diane for a long time now to renew our special friendship. Feeling my own sense of loss on discovering I found her too late, I can only imagine what you (her family) are going through and my heart goes out to you. Diane was very dear to my heart, and I have never forgotten her since our years spent together at Notre Dame H.S. in Toronto and beyond. R.I.P. dear friend. - Posted by: Sheila McAlinden Sabey (long lost friend from 1953) on: Jun 04, 2014

Mrs Prefontaine was an especially nice lady. I have fond memories of playing ping-pong on Elm Park with Jay and Phil. Mrs. Prefontaine would bring us tuna fish sandwiches. Such a sweet lady. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Jeff L. Koloski (Friend of J.P.'s) on: Mar 20, 2014

I was so very sad to learn about Diane's death. I remember her from when I was a little girl (6 years old). She was my friends' Philip, Jay and Gaby's mother. She was a really kind and sweet person. She always asked how I was and was glad to chat with me even when I was quite young. She was interested in others and was very easy to talk to. I always felt listened to and welcome in her home. I will miss her very much, but am grateful to have known her. My deepest sympathy to Albert, Jay and Gaby and the family. - Posted by: Christina Hawley (Friend) on: Mar 17, 2014

On behalf of myself, Shauna, Evan, Autumn, we would like to offer our deepest sympathy. I will always remember my father teasing you and making you laugh. I remember visiting you, uncle Albert and Phil in 1998. You went through old family pictures with me and told me my dad had a nose job lol! Thanks for always keeping in touch with us through the years. We will miss you greatly! - Posted by: Jim Courtney (Nephew) on: Mar 13, 2014
