ROLAND MAURICE FONTAINE It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, Roland Fontaine on March 13, 2014 at the age of 82 years old. Left to mourn and remember Roland are his sisters Gabrielle Carrière, Marcelle Combot-Lavallee (Emile), Laurence Bérard and Murielle Philippot (Hubert), his brother Jean-Charles Fontaine (Thérèse), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Stanislas and his mother Marie-Adèle; as well as his sister Marguerite; brothers Joseph-Marie and Gérard; brothers-in-law, Charles Berard, Henri Combot and Paul Carrière, and sisters-in-law, Liliane Fontaine and Blanche Fontaine. Roland was born in St. Agathe on April 2, 1931. He was surrounded by the love of a large family that operated the Fontaine farm together. He worked hard with his brothers Jean Charles, Gérard and Joseph, and two of his brothers became lumberjacks with Roland and would relocate from St. Agathe to St. Laurent in 1951. He had an impeccable memory for dates and people, and he had a great sense of humour. He loved to discuss life, family, travel, politics and agriculture. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Hochman, Community Palliative Care nurse Devinder, Palliative Care Coordinator Brenda, the dedicated staff at Riverview Health Centre - 3E Wing and the pharmacy team at Rexall CityPlace. Wilf Carter Rosary will be said at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church followed by funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4, or a charity of your choice.
