Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Dear Grant and Eileen, Brian and Jan, your dear mother Yvonne and family. It is with my deepest sympathy that I write this tribute to the Nazarko family. Our family's acquaintance with your family, Grant, has distant roots--long before we became high school friends. My late mother, Julia Krawchuk (nee Buchko), worked for the Hall family in her mide teens and Hazelridge became her second home; thus her acquaintance with your Mom and Dad. Your family played a big part in making Hazelridge what it is today and their memories will live on forever and remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know them. May your love and precious memories of your Father give you strength at the time of his passing and in the future. You are in our prayers and may God Bless you all. With my deepest sympathy, Valerie Kent - Posted by: Valerie Kent (nee Krawchuk) (Springfield Collegiate student) on: Apr 07, 2014

  • When our work is done, we are left with memories and stories. May the memories and stories of your father continue to comfort and guide you - what a wonderful tribute to his life. Our condolences and prayers to the Nazarko family. - Posted by: Art & Ardelle Martin (Friends) on: Mar 22, 2014

  • I was very young when our family made the move from Hazelridge to Winnipeg, but I know from my parents and siblings, the Nazarkos were truly like family, and so very helpful to our family who had just come from Italy to this small town in Canada. I will always fondly remember the frequent trips back to visit my godparents and to hang out at the general store or play in the yard, with the old trucks and other equipment. I am very proud to have been part of this great little town's history. I know I can speak for the entire Agostino Family to thank Paul and Yvonne and the Boys for all they have done for us and for the community, and to express our sincere condolences. My thoughts are with you. Your godson, Bert Agostino - Posted by: Bert Agostino (God Son) on: Mar 17, 2014

  • My condolences to Yvonne, Grant, Brian and families. - Posted by: Colleen (former employee of Paul and Yvonne) on: Mar 17, 2014

  • Grant - sad to see that this chapter in your life has ended. However, I read the obituary to talk mainly of your father's service to his community. Evidently, something that was passed on to you. Will say a prayer for you all, Joseph Langan - Posted by: Joseph Langan (friend) on: Mar 17, 2014

  • I remember the first day I walked into Paul and Yvonne Nazarko's general store in Hazelridge, in 1977, and signed up for a mailbox (Paul was also PostMaster for the village). My husband and I had moved to Hazelridge from Ontario, with our two young children, and we didn't know anyone. From that moment on, we were strangers no longer, because Paul and Yvonne went out of their way to make everyone new feel a part of their vibrant community of Hazelridge. Paul knew everyone - where they were from, what they did, who their children were and how they might want to be involved in the community (even if they hadn't realized it yet!). Newcomers were made to feel we were a vital part of our community in a very short time, because of Paul's leadership and vision for Hazelridge. Thanks to people like Paul and Yvonne Nazarko, Hazelridge was a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I cherish those wonderful memories! My deepest condolences to Yvonne and to Paul's family and friends. He was a wonderful man and we will always remember him with fondness and respect. - Posted by: Roberta (Robbie) Bobby (former Hazelridge resident and patron of Nazarko's store for many years) on: Mar 16, 2014

  • God Rest your wonderful soul. Paul had many stories to tell and I enjoyed listening to them. He told me stories of the Hazelridge area and many areas close by. I missed him asa from his home he went to Holy Family and Whenever I saw Yvonne I had always asked her to say hi to Paul at the nursing home. You will be missed. - Posted by: Audra Rosentreter (Former Homecare Worker to Paul) on: Mar 16, 2014

  • Growing up in Hazelridge, our families were well acquainted. It was Mr. Nazarko who gave me my first job, something that I am sure many people who grew up in Hazelridge in the 60's and 70's can say. I will always fondly remember him for making that little corner of the world a better place to be. Condolences from the Kowalchuk family to the Nazarkos. - Posted by: Thomas M. Kowalchuk (Acquaintance) on: Mar 15, 2014

  • When my husband and I lived in Hazelridge we would shop at his store now and then, and he was always so pleasant and helpful. I was working at Bapco paint at the time and he would come to Winnipeg and would buy paint products from me. He was a real community minded person and will be deeply missed. My condolences go out to all the family. - Posted by: Betty Morrison (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2014
