ALICE HUTCHESON (nee WESTFALL) Alice left this earth on March 10, 2014 at her beloved home. It is a comfort to the family that she was able to stay in her home that she so loved. Alice was born November 2, 1926 to Roy and Ethel Westfall in Winnipeg. She lived her youth on the farm in the Dog Lake area and attended school there. She enlisted in the Canadian Army on February 26, 1945 and was discharged on April 11, 1946. She was a health care aide at the Children's Hospital for over 30 years, a job that she loved, and demonstrated an incomparable work ethic and compassion for her patients and their families. She enjoyed her time at the cabin at the Narrows, gardening, Blue Jays baseball, reading, Free Press cryptoquotes, crossword puzzles and Jumble. In retirement she knit socks, mitts and afghans for the less fortunate, plus discovered her talent for writing poetry. Alice leaves to mourn her only child Gary, sisters Una Bergner and Florence Wotton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Marge Simon, brothers-in-law Victor Simon, Art Bergner and Wilf Wotton plus several nieces and nephews. Gary would like to thank her previous co-workers, family and friends and her dear neighbors for their support at this time. A special thank you to Mark Simard. At her request there will be no service. Her ashes will be scattered on Mother's Day at the Lakeside Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with a tea to follow at the Ashern Legion. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
