ROSE MARIE ROBERTSON (BROAD) May 27, 1930 - March 14, 2014 Peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2014 Marie passed away with family around her at Grace Hospital. Marie was born in Mount Albert and raised on a busy family farm in Southern Ontario. As a youngster she was a model student, soon to leave lasting impressions on numerous other children when she began her young career as an elementary school teacher. Marriage to Clinton in 1955 began a new chapter in her life with a move to Manitoba, eventually settling in Winnipeg to begin a family of their own. Marie was soon blessed with a busy family of four rambunctious boys. Her devotion to the family consumed much of her days, a very proud homemaker. Marie's other passions included the church, entertaining friends and spending time in the garden. A grandmother of eight, with seven great-grandchildren, she was often happiest holding a baby in her arms or preparing a special dinner for a large gathering. An accidental loss of her youngest son Mark (19 years) and a sudden stroke in 2007 did little to dampen Marie's spirits or slow her down. Her biggest challenge in life however was the cancer that eventually took her after a brave and courageous battle. Marie leaves behind her husband Clinton; sons: Wayne and wife Leanne, Peter and Colleen, and Glen and Bobbie, grandchildren: Clinton, Robert, Neil and Kimberly; Alicia and Torrie; Rachel and Colleen. A memorial service will be held at Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue at Ness and Mount Royal on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marie's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
