OLIVE KISELBACH (HORSEMAN) February 2, 1946 - March 13, 2014 Olive Ollie' Kiselbach (Horseman), risk taker, gardener, damn good cook and accomplished traveller, died peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014 with her loving family by her side. Olive was born on Groundhog Day, 1946, to Horace and Annie (a.k.a Annie Sue Dirt) Horseman. She was a small town girl who grew up in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. With 12 brothers and sisters, Ollie's mother would say they were packed as tight as a tin of sardines. Olive said that didn't matter because we always had fun. Fond memories were had: tipping outhouses on their ass, building bonfires, hanging out with the Leather Jacket Ladies and spending time at neighbouring town dances. Olive was a red headed bombshell and all the guys wanted her. It was at the Church Bridge dance, where she met Kisel. Her best friend Peggy had to bribe her to go out with him but Ollie would later say, she was glad that she went. On November 16, 1963, Olive Horseman married Donald Dennis Vern John Kiselbach. She would laugh that Don made up for her not having any middle names. That and Olive would joke that her mother and father ran out of names by the time they got to her. Don and Olive moved around from town to town, before settling in Stonewall in 1976 with their two children Bernice (Andrade) and Brad. Together they opened Don's Auto and O.K. Farm Supply, where Don would tell you Olive was the brains of the operation. For the next 33 years Olive handled anything and everything to do with the business. She was the: bookkeeper, the accountant, sold and ordered parts, cleaned toilets, the list never ended. Olive and Don retired in 2005, which allowed them to head south to Welton, Arizona for the winter. There they wrangled up a group of ne'er do wells to spend their time with and loved every minute of it. In her spare time she volunteered with the Kinettes, developed many close friendships, donated a kidney to her daughter, and spent time being a wonderful grandmother to her grandkids, Kyle, Dylan, Tyler, Giancarlo and Rico Andrade. She will be remembered for her manner of speech that could make anyone laugh, her costume and float building skills, her unapologetic personality, her outspoken character, her love for old shows and movies, her innate ability to guess the showcase on The Price is Right and her quick-witted spitfire of a personality. Basically Ollie was comfortable in her perfect imperfection. That is what made her so wonderful. We all remember Olive differently, whether it was from Saltcoats, the party days, Welton, Arizona, she sold you lingerie or auto parts or you happened to be related to her. She will always be remembered. We will love you forever, we will like you for always, as long as we're living: my wife, my mommy, my grandma, my sister and my friend you will be. We feel the following quote epitomizes how Olive lived her life, "I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done."- Lucille Ball, I Love Lucy. Thanks to the staff at Stonewall Hospital for their support and gentle care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stonewall Palliative Care. Don, Bernice, Victor, Brad and Tracey along with family invite you to attend a celebration of life from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the South Interlake Stonewall 55 Plus Centre, Stonewall, MB. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our family, Brenda, Frank, Jennie, & Aaron first met Olive when our businesses shared space. Us having the first specialty coffee and tea store in Stonewall, she selling beautiful lingerie next door. After seeing our store sign she had Frank design and paint hers too. That was the start of a wonderful few years spent together as neighbours. Olive was matter of fact and we all loved that about her, you always knew where you stood with her. She was one of the kindest and generous persons ever! Always positive always ready for a laugh! It was an honour to have Olive come into our lives, rest in peace Olive.
