MARCELLA ELSIE JOAN TURNBULL
Date of Passing: Mar 09, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARCELLA ELSIE JOAN TURNBULL With heavy hearts, we sadly share the passing of Marcella Elsie Joan Turnbull on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at a very youthful 72 years of age. Marcella's life was a story filled with rich experiences, joys and celebrations. Her favourite times were entertaining in her home with family and friends. Her strong faith in God, unconditional love for others, especially children, a passion for laughter and life, reading, dancing, singing, travelling and peace in the beauty of nature and flowers, enriched the lives of those who knew her. Marcella is survived by her cherished daughter Lisa-Marie, precious grandsons Liam and Stefan, loving sister Veronica (Dennis), nephews and niece Dan, Casey (Karla), Catherine and Tyler, great-nephews Rayden, Quinn and Scott. Her joie de vivre was her role as Nana and Auntie Puddleduck. Special thanks to her close circle of friends, near and far, especially Debbie. She was predeceased by great-nephew Brady. Special thanks to Chaplain Timothy Fenlon and the professional team of doctors and nurses for the gentle caring of our mumsie, nana, sister, auntie and dear friend, who all walked this journey with our family. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to an animal shelter or children's charity of one's choice. As requested, a private gathering was held in her home. No longer in our arms, Forever in our hearts. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

My deepest condolences to Lisa-Marie and the entire family. Marcella was a wonderful person, who found humour in everything. When last we talked, she was going off into retirement to be an extra in a movie. I remember her describing the scene she was in. She said her role was a woman of the evening and she had to do this long walk in very high heels. She laughed about it as she told me, and said, "Can you imagine!" and laughed, making a wincing look on her face. I attribute Marcella with teaching my son how to read. He thrived in her classroom and went from struggling to read to reading two grade levels above his grade. Dylan is now in heaven with you Marcella, I'm sure he was glad to see you there when he arrived. - Posted by: Ingrid Zacharias (Friend and Parent Volunteer) on: Jun 17, 2025

I just heard today, April 9, that Marcella had passed away. I am so sorry for her loss. She was a kind, caring person who cared more about others than herself. I called when we were home from Tucson but only spoke to Veronica. I send a big hug to all of you. Love,Shirley - Posted by: Shirley McDonald (Cousin) on: Apr 09, 2014

Deepest Sympathy to Lisa-Marie, Liam, Stefan, Veronica, Dennis and families. Marcella and I had many chuckles and laughed so hard we cried. Laughter is good for the soul and that is what kept us going. I miss you my dear friend! May you Rest in Peace! In the light of loving memories we recall one's journey in life of the good times, happiness, sadness, anger, tears, forgiveness, love, laughter and being humble. Those are cherished moments! I know that through God's Grace, He will guide all who knew Marcella on the path of understanding to give us some peace of mind so our hearts will be content. With a heavy heart I say good bye to a special person. Marcella was my partner in crime in teaching, was truly passionate about what she did. She touched the lives of many children and their families. We shared many laughs, many tears and heart to heart talks. - Posted by: Bonnie (Friend and former colleague) on: Mar 25, 2014

Marcella and I met a long time ago when we were students at St. John's High School. We bonded over our shared experiences as public library pages -- we shelved books. We reconnected after we retired from teaching and enjoyed some lively get-togethers with the 'girls.' Marcella will be sorely missed by her many friends and former colleagues. She was a force for the 'good.' My sincere sympathy on your loss of a devoted mother and grandmother, sister and aunt. - Posted by: Christel Dewar (Friend) on: Mar 25, 2014

My heartfelt prayers go out to the family. Marcella taught me for 3 years in elementary school. She was my inspiration to become a teacher when I was 8 years old. She'll never know but thanks to her passion for teaching, patience and believing in me when I wanted to give up, I've been teaching for 4 years now. I owe it all to 'Ms. Turnbull'. She will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Courtney Chubaty (Former Student) on: Mar 24, 2014
