LORRAINE EVELYN TINKLER (CURRIE) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the age of 91 years. She is now with the love of her life, Bob. She leaves to celebrate her life, her children: Marilyn (Ed Sloane), Cathy (Greg Sneyd) and Bev (Dan Paukovic). Grandchildren: Graeme (Karen) Sloane, Devon Sloane (Tori), Jackie (Bob) Welsh, Robyn (Ryan) Jensen, Matt Sneyd, Lauren and Jason Paukovic. Great-grandchildren: Makenzie and Morgan Sloane, Zander and Jax Jensen. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law: Ed Tinkler, Brian and Bev Tinkler and families. Mom was born June 18, 1922 in Stonewall, raised in Argyle and schooled at Brandt Consolidated School. She came to Winnipeg to take a secretarial course and worked for the Bank of Commerce and CNR Treasury Department. She had to leave her job when she married Dad (Bob Tinkler) in 1946. She returned to CNR several times to the same job. After purchasing their first home in 1951, they had their daughters Marilyn, Catherine and Beverly. Mom was the ultimate seamstress. She made all her own clothing and those of the girls! She was an expert when it came to this hobby. Mom, Dad and the girls' families loved their cottage at Star Lake and spent many summers there. Mom still planned to go to the cottage this summer and it would have been her 58th year there. Her neighbours at the lake were very special and were always there for each other. Mom and Dad spent many great times with the Winfal Seniors Group at the lake. Mom was a member of Riverview, now Churchill Park United Church, plus the groups associated with the church, as well as Whiteshell United Church. She was also a member of the Riverview Community Club Ladies Group. Mom was always volunteering for whatever came her way. She worked with the Telephone Pioneers Partners, who made pillows for St. Boniface Hospital heart patients. Mom and Dad spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona and then decided to stay in Canada where they travelled to Osoyoos, BC. After losing Dad, Mom moved into Dakota House in 2011, where she continued to be very busy. Here she met old friends, old neighbours and made many new friends. She was as busy as one could be with all the activities they offered. Thanks to the staff of Dakota House who were so kind and helpful to Mom. Thanks to Kaitlyn, and to the serving girls whom she loved so much. Also, thanks to the Emergency Department and staff at the Victoria Hospital, who made all of us feel so comfortable while caring for Mom with such compassion. We truly appreciate your dedication to your patients! Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. If you so wish, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or a charity of your choice. • Please accept our sympathy on Evelyn's passing. She grew up spending time with our mother Dora and our aunt Marion on the Jensen farm. Dora was just asking about her and then we read her obituary. They shared many happy times as she did with all of you. • I miss Grandma so much! I miss talking with her on the phone and the way she said "Oh hi Karen" every time she heard my voice. I miss her loving hugs and the great stories she would tell. Grandma especially loved to talk with her Great Granddaugher Makenzie on the phone. I know she cherished those moment and so do I. I find peace and comfort know that she is finally back in the arms of the love of her life. Rest in peace Grandma. I love you! - Posted by: Karen Sloane (Grand daughter-in law) on: Mar 22, 2014
