Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH LILLIAN AIRTH Suffering from Alzheimer's, Lil passed away peacefully on January 5, 2014 at Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 87. She was born on November 29, 1926 in McAuley District, MB, to Elizabeth and David Cannon, and grew up on the farm in the McAuley and Stonewall areas. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan, her parents, her sister Mary Kellsey, her brother Wilf Cannon and her granddaughter Lesley. Lil will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dianne (Delbert) Holm, Jim (Brenda) Airth, Wanda (Gilbert) Desroches, Terry (Pam) Airth, her grandchildren, Richard, Marcia, David (Janie), Tim (Susie), Jason, Nicole (Michael), Kelly (Chris) and her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Chet, Owen, Brady and Eleanor. Lil is survived by her sister Evelyn Drury, brothers Robert and Allan (Joyce) Cannon, sisters-in-law Elva Broker and Frances (John) Essex and brothers-in-law Alan Sheldon and Lawrence Scott. Lil lived in Winnipeg and worked at Eaton's Credit Office for many years, then as a real estate agent and then as a nurse's aide at Middlechurch Home, retiring in 1993. Lil and Ivan enjoyed many years of camping and fishing, mainly at Royal Lake, ON. They returned to the farm in 1980 with their hobby farm near Lockport, MB. Lil loved to garden and had a menagerie of animals which the grandchildren also enjoyed. Lil's greatest joy was cooking and spending time with her family and she also enjoyed the casinos. As her memory slowly eroded, her social graces and love of music and dance remained intact. Music could trigger her elegant sense of movement and lyrical recall like nothing else. The family greatly appreciated the companionship and care given to our mother by our aunts, Thelma and Evelyn, during her illness. Thank you as well to Deer Lodge Centre for 11 years of excellent care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB with interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lil to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
