Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMIJO (MICHAEL) MEDVEN It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mijo Medven on March 24, 2014 at the age of 85. Mijo leaves to mourn his son Michael, daughter-in-law Laura, granddaughter Ashley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marica and Steve Rakar, nephews Dennis (Tammy) and Bryan. Mijo also leaves behind family and friends in Croatia. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Barica in 2004. After a hard childhood in Croatia, he came to Canada in 1957 for a better life. As he settled in Winnipeg, Barica came to join him in 1962. They married and had their only son Michael in 1964. Mijo worked for Coca Cola for 34 years, until his retirement in 1994, which was the year his precious granddaughter Ashley was born. Mijo loved his family, his home, gardening with his wife, making homemade wine and being involved with the Croatian church and community. Most importantly, he enjoyed all the time that he spent with his granddaughter Ashley. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. Viewing will be at 1:30 pm with closed casket service at 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow the service and reception will be held in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. My Dida will forever be remembered as a kindhearted, generous, patient and devoted husband, father, Dida, brother, uncle and friend. We all love you and miss you, forever and always. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111
