Date of Passing: Mar 22, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES WALTER HOBSON June 29, 1932 - March 22, 2014 With deep sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, and good friend. Walter died peacefully with family at his side at Oakview Place at the age of 81. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Edith, sons Neil and Mark, sister Doreen Smith (Frank), brothers-in-law Murray Kempthorne and Ernest (Pat) Kempthorne, sister-in-law Maurena Wear (Ross Svoboda), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his beloved parents Arthur and Elva Hobson, parents-in-law Lorne and Marj Kempthorne, and brother- and sister-in-law Bill and Lorraine Kempthorne. Walter was born in Holmfield and grew up there and in Ottawa, Cultus Lake, Carberry, Douglas, Shilo, Rivers, and Brandon. While in Shilo, he met and married the love of his life, Edith, from Boissevain. They settled in Winnipeg where they raised their two sons. Walter worked as a draftsman for the DND for 35 years until his retirement. Walter loved dancing, golfing, carpentry, and his church, but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends. Walter was a gentle, loving man and he will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Hospital and Oakview Place for the care given to Walter during his stays there. In keeping with Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Walter's name to Crestview United Church (316 Hamilton Ave), the Resource Centre for Manitobans who are Deaf-Blind (228-285 Pembina Hwy), or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Sturgeon Creek United Church (207 Thompson Dr). NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
