EILEEN O'NEILL In the afternoon of March 25th, 2014 our Eileen passed into the hands of God, following a lengthy and fierce fight with ovarian cancer. "Leen" was employed by Federated Insurance for 31 years as a Manager in Office Services before illness forced retirement. She treasured time with her Cairn Terriers and won many high awards in dog shows all over North America. Eileen was predeceased by her father, John R. O'Neill. She is survived by her mother Rita M. O'Neill of Catherine Place, sisters Kathleen Hope (Bob) and Sheila Haney (Jack) both of Las Vegas, Patricia O'Neill (David Joicey) of Oakbank; nephew Steven Daniel; niece Paige Daniel; brothers Jack O'Neill (Carolyn Wawrin) and Bill (Shirley) both of Winnipeg, and by her dearest friend Cindy Kowalchuk of Narol, Manitoba, who supported Eileen from the beginning of her illness until the moment of her death. Cindy, husband Jeff and daughter Brit welcomed Eileen into their home and hearts for the duration. If love and prayers could have cured her cancer, Eileen would still be in our lives. Funeral service followed by a reception will be held Sunday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Interment of her ashes will be held at a later date. In keeping with Eileen's love of animals, donations in her memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. "Eileen's love for people and her spirit of encouragement and support will be sadly missed by all that knew her." I connected with Eileen as soon as I began employment at Federated. We became a group of fun lovers - Eileen, Michelle, Gail, Linda, France and myself. Dinners out were a blast! You even came out to my wedding social and wedding. You and Gail helped roll out sod when we bought our house and planted a rose bush when our first daughter was born. I remember how you said she had such a cute M mouth. You talked so much about Stephen and Paige, I remember you making the pirate flag for them. I'm sorry that we lost touch with each other. You lived your life loving family, you made the world a better place. πΎπ " May the road rise up to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. - Posted by: Carla Dayholos (Former co-worker) on: Mar 28, 2014
