EILEEN ELIZABETH PARISH (nee JOHNSTON) May 20, 1920 - March 23, 2014 Peacefully, after a long journey with Alzheimers, Eileen passed away at West Park Manor on Sunday, March 23, 2014 in her 94th year. Eileen is lovingly remembered by her husband of 72 years, Norm, her two daughters, Louise (Dave Kennedy) and Linda (Gord Johnstone), and her grandchildren, Michael (Amanda) and Mark Kennedy, and Heather (Marshall Ring) and Ian (Tanya) Johnstone. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren - Linnea, Juliet, Lucy and Bridget Ring, Cole Kennedy, Declan, Ty and Blake Johnstone, Daniel Kennedy and Taylor Heald. Mom was born in Toronto, Ontario and met Dad through church Young Peoples. They were married on October 25, 1941 and lived most of their lives in Toronto before relocating to Winnipeg in 1991 to be with both the daughters and grandchildren. Mom was a family person, putting the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed the time spent with family, especially the grandchildren, who loved their Nana dearly. She was always supportive and proud of the accomplishments of each and every one. Her strong faith led her to be very involved in the Presbyterian Church where she was a long time member, ending with St. James Presbyterian Church in Winnipeg. She played the piano and organ when needed, sang in choirs and conducted Junior Choirs. She was also very active in the Girl's Work Organization as a CGIT leader and member of the "Torch" committee. This lead to chairing the Board of World Mission Committee as part of the Women's Missionary Society, which allowed her to visit missions in Japan, Taiwan and Malawi. We would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor where Mom was a resident for over 11 years, for the care and compassion that they gave her. She was treated with dignity right up until the end. We would also like to thank them for their concern and comfort to the rest of the family, especially Dad. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Mom's life will take place on Friday, April 4 at 1:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room, 2nd floor of West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, Reverend Peter Bush officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Presbyterian Church, West Park Manor, or a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715
