Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNETTIE MARKO (nee KUZINA) December 27, 1914 - March 25, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nettie. Mom passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Concordia Place Nursing Home at the age of 99 years. She will forever be remembered by her daughter Shirley McCullough (Jeff), her grandson Joshua McCullough (Leanne), great-grandson Logan, and her granddaughter Jenna Warner (Jordan). She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister Sadie Widish in Oshawa, her brother-in-law Joe Radomski, sister-in-law Dorothy Kuzina, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 1980, her parents, sisters Ann Barylski, and Pearl Radomski, brothers Nick, Fred, John and Mike Kuzina; brothers-in-law Mike Widish, Matt Barylski, and sisters-in-law Audrey Kuzina and Lydia Kuzina. She was also predeceased by members of John's family; brothers-in-law Peter and Fred Marko, sisters-in-law Ann Kaban (Bill), Pauline Dowhopoluk (Alec), and Mary Kulbaba (Steve). She is survived by sister-in-law Helen Shmon. Mom was born in Cooks Creek, MB, to Katherine and Wasyl Kuzina and was the second oldest and first born in Canada of eight children. Her parents relocated to a farming community in Okno in 1922. She left the farm to work in Arborg at the tender age of 14 years. She moved onto Winnipeg and enjoyed several more years working before meeting her husband John while travelling on the train home. They were married October 16, 1940, on a Wednesday, after a four day engagement, in a borrowed dress and a small family dinner to celebrate. She then embarked on a very happy life in a town she grew to love and would always refer to as "my Teulon". Her greatest passion was her family. With loving hands she cooked delicious Ukrainian dishes, entertained many family gatherings and spent countless hours with her grandchildren. They were the coffee stop for family going to Arborg from Winnipeg, customers going to my dad's shop or neighbours walking by on their way "to town". She lovingly and selflessly cared for my dad for several years before his passing. Her move to Gateway Manor in 1993 provided her with 16 years of happy socializing and independence. Most importantly, her love and support for her family and her special times with her grandchildren will never be forgotten. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Graham for many years of excellent care, her home care friends in Gateway, Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, Red River Nursing Home and finally to the wonderful staff on the third floor of Concordia Place. Her three years there were blessed with compassionate care and friendship. Prayers will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Teulon. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Teulon with interment to follow in Windsor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Gateway Manor in Teulon, or charity of one's choice. MOTHER SWEET MOTHER' You were always there when we needed you, No task too great or small. With a loving heart and a willing hand, For us you did them all. Thanks for the years you gave us, And for the precious times we shared. We only pray when you left us, You knew how much we cared.
