I have learned of this many years later...my sincere condolences are offered. Rudy was my past foreman at Domtar Construction back in the mid to late 70's. I was a paperman and mixer man on his shift. He was a strong, but gentle supervisor or foreman...I was also a member of the Naval Reserve at Chippawa during my time there...he always had a chuckle when I came to work in uniform...on a Tuesday evening...between him and Tony Jasnic...our Machine Man...what a pair they were...but he always told me to remain in the service...here I am a Canadian Forces Veteran with 34 years of service to Canada...and now retired....Thanks Rudy...you are the best...Rest Now My Friend...Aye Ready Aye (navy) Per Ardua Ad Astra (RCAF).. I am remembering today, a glimpse of my past happiness, and at the same time sharing sorrow with Rudy's family and friends. I consider myself very fortunate to have been a good friend of Rudy. We met at Concordia EK swimming pool where he swam freestyle three times a week. I clearly remember the day when Rudy, who at the time was the Pool's patriarch of our 'pool friends', said to me he was going to quit swimming and that he had had enough at the age of 74. I was very disappointed at the thought missing this friendship, and encouraged him to stay a little longer, but his mind was made up. Although I never did met his wife Pauline, he spoke of her a lot and the health issues bearing together on them. I also never met Darryl, but certainly knew of his skiing abilities. I was very happy to see Rudy from time to time either taking flowers to Pauline in the care home or grocery shopping at the Market Place Mall. He was a pleasure to know and enjoy camaraderie with. Rudy had an infectious smile which was calming and his picture today caused me to smile with reverence. May his memories bring comfort and peace to the family and to those who had a special walk in life with Rudy. Rod Westmacott - Posted by: Rod Westmacott (Friend) on: May 09, 2014

My sincere sympathy to Rudy's family. I worked with Rudy at Domtar for many years.....he was a great guy!! Always cheerful and smiling. I remember him and Pauline coming in to the office after Rudy retired....and telling me how much he enjoyed his retirement. He was so happy to spend more time with family. May your happy memories help lighten your sorrow. Sincerely, Audrey Hanna - Posted by: Audrey Hanna () on: Mar 31, 2014

My sincere condolence go out to the Kaschl family..I worked with Rudy for many years at Domtar gypsum, he was a great boss .His guidance and direction was exactly what all us young men needed back then. He was firm , fair and reasonable..He always had time to talk and gave great advice..He had a great work ethic and always talked about his responsibility to his family... God bless.
