Sad to hear of Wally's passing. The days of Contempra and McArthurs Towing are very fond memories for us. Wally would stop in at the Spike on Sat afternoons to visit and enjoy the music and dancing. He was such a mentor to so many young drivers in years past. We thought he would live forever? Vio con dios Wally. Dear James, Julie, Joe and Family, we are sincerely saddened by Wally's untimely passing. He like many other of our family members have left us much too soon, but memories of the good times we shared together in our earlier years will be cherished forever. Wally was only 3 years older than me, but he was a cousin that I looked up to. We shared a lot of fun times on the farm in Tyndall from floating on his self made raft on their pond, to rolling down their big hill with a horse buggy, and climbing high up the rafters in our barn hayloft to jump into the soft hay. We would spend hours sitting on the tire markers on each side of his driveway taking turns guessing the make and model of cars as they approached down the highway. We would scavenge the ditch along Highway 44 for drink bottles and many other collectibles including a set of handcuffs. We would lick salt and vinegar from discarded chip containers we found along the highway and on rare occasions were treated to chip containers that had real french fries bought at chip stands in Beausejour. We would make mud pies using eggs from the chicken coop and bake them in a real outside wood stove. We also had fun making fire and smoke smudges to keep mosquitoes away from the cattle, there was no concern about children playing with fire in those days, although I did burn down a haystack once. Wally was an altar boy at St. Michaels church in Tyndall and he once saved me from drowning when I fell into Devil's Creek while we were catching tadpoles. When Wally's family moved to Winnipeg he got a paper route and did deliveries for Tadman's Drug Store. With the money earned he got a brand new 10 speed racing bike and at Christmas he took pride in getting and wrapping presents for his parents. When I spent some time in Children's Hospital, I was surprised and happy that Wally took time to come and visit me. I was pleased to be one of Wally's ushers when he and Halina were married and 5 years later we were happy to have Wally as an usher at our wedding. We were very happy to see Wally attend our niece's wedding in our backyard last fall and he suggested we should have a large family reunion this summer. Unfortunately things don't always turn out the way we like, but Wally's memory will always be in our minds and hearts. Our sincerest sympathy is extended to Wally's family, from John & Elizabeth Roth - Posted by: John & Elizabeth Roth (Cousin) on: Apr 03, 2014

We know the day will come but death always leaves us with grief. We are deeply saddened by the news of Walter Roth passing. Though You lived a Worthy life that will always remember by all of us. As The measure of a Man: Not..."How did he die" But..."How did he live" Not..."What did he gain" But...What did he give" These are the units to measure the worth of a Man, as a Man, Regardless of birth, colour and Nationalities. Wally as being called by friends, You made me believe This World is vanity upon vanity. "The Man is born with his hands clenched, but his are open in death, because on entering the World he desires to grasp everything, but on leaving, he takes nothing away. WALLY YOU WILL BE MISSED. Our collective hearts are heavy with sympathy to James,Julie and The Family. - Posted by: Adepoju Adewale(Wally),Kola Adedeji (Bendel),Ben Odutayo and Olabisi Akinmuyisitan (Tenants(1145 Redonda Street)) on: Mar 31, 2014
