DIANE CAROL DOERN (nee TYNDALL) It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Diane Doern on March 29, 2014 at the age of 66. Diane leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 32 years, Fred, daughter, Erin, and sister, Shirley Petterson, along with mother-in-law, Elsie Doern, sister and brother-in-law, Fran and Floyd Wonnick, and her nieces Neva (Steve) and Amber (Ryan). She was predeceased by her mother, Karin (Katie) Melquist, brother-in-law, Leonard, nephew, Darin Petterson, and father-in-law, Edward Doern. Born in Riverland, Manitoba, Diane enjoyed a long career at AECL - Pinawa where her hard work and attention to detail made her a valued employee in the research labs for over 30 years. After retiring in the mid 1990s, Diane devoted her efforts to taking care of her family along with the numerous dogs, cats, and thoroughbreds at the farm in Hazelridge. It was only the black bears that visited the apple trees each fall that caused her some concern. Her kind and caring nature, coupled with her patience and determination were the strong character attributes much appreciated by family, friends, and colleagues throughout her life. Diane had a passion for life, whether it was reading or baking with Erin, visiting garage sales with Shirley, or dancing across the kitchen floor with Fred, she appreciated all of the small joys that life had to offer. Plagued with numerous maladies in recent years, she never complained. It was always "I'm OK - How about you?" even to the very end. Special thanks to the medical teams at Beausejour Hospital, the MICU at Health Sciences Centre, and the Palliative Care Ward at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care over the past year. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Joy Lutheran Church, 50 Barnes Street, (south of Bison Drive) in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. "Lady Di - you will be sadly missed." Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715
