GORDON STEPHEN DASH Gordon passed away peacefully at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home on March 29, 2014. He was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on September 6, 1929. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Anne, youngest son Robert, and all of his siblings. He leaves behind three sons, Marley, Gordon Jr., and Joseph, and one daughter, Michelle. Gordon was the youngest of eight children. He was raised on a farm in Saskatchewan and continued as a young man in the agricultural field with 10 years service for Cockshutt Farm Equipment from 1952 to 1962. He bought a small farm at Tyndall, Manitoba in 1964 and enjoyed growing grain and raising livestock for many years. He also worked for the Province of Manitoba Department of Community Services. He retired as a Director of Income Security in 1985. His passions were hunting, playing guitar, and singing country western songs. He was the life of many parties. Gordon was a man of strong will, never afraid of hard work, and always projected a "can do" attitude. We heard him say many times "where there is a will, there is a way." In accordance with his wishes, a private family graveside service was held at Green Acres Cemetery on Thursday, April 3, 2014. The family would like to thank the staff at Donwood Manor for all the care and support given to Gordon during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V5. So sorry to hear of my dad's cousin Gordie's passing. My dad, Leo, and Gordie and Mike grew up close to each other near GlenBain, and where my dad was a cousin to both. Terry Dash terrydash@shaw.ca - Posted by: Terrydd (Cou) on: Apr 27, 2014

Gordon is a true original, they broke the mold when they made this man. His spirit & zest for life was truly contagious. He is a person that could show you how to play or work from dawn to dusk. Gordon's passions were many his will, drive and determination made short work of things most people wouldn't even begin. This kept him going well into his later years when most people had sat down to reflect on life's memories. In spite of the fact his body wanted to sit down Gordon kept moving. I recall this tenacity once lead him onto a roof top at his hunting lodge to which he couldn't get down because his body wouldn't let him. Thankfully with help from Aunt Anne he got down but he certainly got a scolding for being up there. Many times Anne would tell him to act his age to which he would reply, why? There are many memories for me at the Tyndall farm with Gordon, Anne and my cousins. The music and parties, sleeping in the barn, learning how to drive everything, helping in many projects and sharing in many a wise talks around the campfire with Gordon one in particular shaped my life and kept me out of big trouble. Gordon loved to hunt and we hunted together a long time. Many mornings Gordon woke me up with loud country music or with him banging a pot and singing cowboy songs. We shared countless stories and wisdom in the ole' pickup truck. Enjoy your journey to "Round up time in Texas" Gordon. My deepest condolences to Marley & Brenda, Joe & Brenda, Gordie & Donna and Michelle. - Posted by: Curtis Chamberlain (Great Nephew, God son & Friend) on: Apr 08, 2014

Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was always full of fun. I still remembered being awakened in the early hours of the morning by your Dad and Joe playing the fiddles right outside my parents bedroom window. He was also kind to let us ride the little Shetland pony Smokey anytime we wanted. Our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Theresa Hunter (Family friend) on: Apr 04, 2014

I have such great memories of your dad with his guitar singing and my dad singing along. Didn't matter if they knew the words or not they would always ramble through. Sorry to hear of your dads passing. - Posted by: Rob McMurray (Family Friend) on: Apr 04, 2014
