Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER MAKSYMCHUK It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Maksymchuk on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Pete was born in Okno, MB on September 6, 1921 to Mary and Stefan. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lena, sister-in-law Anna, uncle Steve, aunt Jean, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bill, Onofrey, Michael, John, Paul, sister Anne, and nephews Harold and Peter. Pete was a loving, caring husband to Lena for 47 years, rarely missing a day visiting her in the personal care home. They were very devoted to one another and she will miss his presence. Pete was proud of his accomplishments in life. He enjoyed telling stories from his army career. He was a farmer in the Okno area for many years. Eventually, they sold the farm and moved to Arborg. He was a creative inventor, nothing was too challenging for him. He tried to repair almost everything. He enjoyed his simple lifestyle. He had a determined personality (stubborn) yet he was kind, gentle and generous to all. He was a poet, always including a poem he had written in his cards. Uncle Pete enjoyed puzzles, cribbage, hunting, gardening, fishing and his birds. He was a member of the Arborg Legion, the Okno Cemetery, and the Ukrainian Catholic Church. He enjoyed the Adult Craft Program and made many special friends there. His pallbearers will be Neil Kordalchuk, Michael Maksymchuk, Matthew Pastetnik, Nicholas, Peter and Benjamin Krawchuk. The honorary pallbearers are Larry Serediuk, Rick Kordalchuk, Don, Roger and Jerry Maksymchuk. Pete is good! Vichnaya Pam'yat Funeral service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Arborg on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Okno Cemetery. Farewell to a very kind, patient and intellectual gentleman who loved the challenge of an enormous puzzle and to enjoy a nice cup of tea reading National Geographic during his retirement. Will always remember crossing the road and visiting Pete and Lena as a little girl to bottle feed baby lambs, try to catch kittens and count the endless bunnies. Thank you for the wonderful memories. Our Heartfelt Sympathy to Lena, "May God Grant Pete Eternal Rest!" Sending Our Love, Angela & Wayne - Posted by: Wayne & Angela Smikles (Former neighbour in Okno, Manitoba) on: Apr 09, 2014
