Date of Passing: Mar 29, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY MCBEY March 15, 1928 March 29, 2014 Roy George McBey's journey in life ended peacefully at home alongside his loving wife, Jessie and children Ross (Pat), Heather (Bragi), Colleen (Gord), Bob (Wendy), and Christina (Jerry). Roy was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan where he spent his youth farming with his family. As a young man, Roy came to Winnipeg and began his career as a mechanic. It was in Winnipeg that Roy caught the eye of a young red head, the romance began and in 1953 Roy and Jessie wed. Roy built their home on a piece of land given by Jessie's father, the fifth generation to establish roots on the same street. Roy worked at Supercrete for 25 years ending his career with Genstar Materials and retiring in 1991. Roy and Jessie spent their retirement travelling through Alaska and the East Coast; however their most memorable moments were at their cottage at Nutimik Lake where they enjoyed their time with friends and family. Roy will be greatly missed by his 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, which were his pride and joy. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care nurses, Grace Hospital Emergency staff and Dr. Schullenburg for caring for our father with kindness, respect and dignity. A celebration of Roy's life will be held on April 8, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, 2:00 p.m. In lieu in flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Manitoba or The Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Dyck family wishes to express our deepest sympathy in the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. My mom had been a neighbour to the McBey's for 30 years. As kids I fondly remember Mr McBey for his friendly smile and kind words over the fence. He will be missed by all. - Posted by: Marlene Dyck (Old neighbour) on: Apr 06, 2014

Roy McBey was an outstanding individual who all of us should strive to emulate. Roy and Jessie raised five children who exemplify the strength of character and integrity modeled by their parents. I (Murray) grew up with the McBey children and have known the family for over 40 years. I also worked for Roy for a brief period of time and he was a great boss. Roy was Indeed the patriarch of the family and I know Jessie and the kids, and everyone who has ever met Roy, will miss him tremendously. My wife and I offer our sincere condolences. We know Jessie is surrounded by numerous loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will provide her with the support that gets families through a great loss such as Roy's passing. - Posted by: Murray & Joann Bartley (Friends) on: Apr 05, 2014

Ross, my condolences to you and your family. I had never met your dad but have known you for over 20 years and you were a excellent friend, co worker and provider for your family. Ross you must have learnt that from your day. Take care and will be thinking of you. Glenn - Posted by: Glenn Asselstine (past co worker) on: Apr 05, 2014
