LARRY EDWARD MUTCHER It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry on April 3, 2014 at the Selkirk Hospital. He is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Dolores, on December 26, 2013. Also his parents, Ben and Rosie, brother Orville and sister Kay. Left to mourn his passing are son Brian (Annie), daughters Bonnie (Wally) and Sandra (Stephan), granddaughters Amanda and Evelyn, brothers Ken (Sylvia), Otto (Eileen), Clarence (Margaret), Frank (Jo-Ann), and Gord, sisters Dorothy, Bernice, Marie, Josie (Tony) and Betty, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Larry was born near Snowflake, Manitoba on October 31, 1944. He worked hard on the family farm in Langruth with his parents and siblings. He moved to Winnipeg to become a welder / driller / fabricator / manufacturer. In 1966, he met Dolores dancing at the German Club. They fell in love and married in Winnipeg on September 30, 1967. Their first child, Brian, was born in 1972. Their first daughter, Bonnie, was born in 1974. In 1976, they moved to Lockport and built a house to raise their family. In Selkirk, Larry opened up Lanowa Enterprises on Clandeboye Avenue. Later, Larry started Lockport Welding, putting in grueling hours and heavy lifting. Their second daughter, Sandra, was born in 1982. Larry and Dolores worked hard in their yard on their flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and lawn. Dad loved his children and granddaughters so much. He and mom took us on many car and plane trips to see grandparents, relatives and friends. The highlights were going to Disney World twice and Expo 1986. We had many boating and waterskiing adventures. Also, trips to the beach to toss us into the water. He and mom enjoyed going to garage and auction sales. He always made new friends whenever he went. Dad would help anyone with anything. He had a very kind heart to all he met. Dad put up a courageous fight with cancer. It consumed his body, but not the man. When he lost mom just over three months before, he lost his soul mate. Now they are together for eternity. We miss you both, Dad and Mom. We did not want either of you to leave us, but we have to accept it and move on. Thank you to CancerCare, Health Sciences Centre, Selkirk Hospital, paramedics, doctors and nurses for your caring hearts. You all went above and beyond for him and the family. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church on 653 Knowles Ave. in Winnipeg. Luncheon afterwards. Interment to follow in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church. • Dear Mutcher Family: Ray and I were very saddened to learn of both your dad/grandfather and mom/grandmother's passing. They always sat in front of us at church and shared many joyous news with us...they shared many helpful hints regarding their travels and were a delightful couple and now they are reunited in heaven. They were a blessing in any lives they touched! They will lovingly be remembered as always being caring and wonderful people! Our utmost sympathies; Ray & Trish Rosolowich - Posted by: Trish & Ray Rosolowich (St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church friends) on: Apr 11, 2014

  • Brian, Bonnie, and Sandra: Sorry for your loss. Larry was very proud you all. I will always remember Larry, as a great friend; through work, or a card game, he was always there to talk when life's decision's were tough. I will even miss the times he passed by on Lockport Road, if he didn't have tome to stop in, he would always toot the horn. (3 times). Irish Blessing: May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine upon your face, The rain falls soft on your garden, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. - Posted by: Tom Greenham (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2014

  • I met Larry 22 years ago when I started working at Mayers Fibre Tube. Larry was a weekly visitor here always fixing and welding new equipment in our shop. We will truly miss his laughter and smiles. Larry always had a story or a joke to tell us. He was so proud of his grandchildren and always had a new picture to show us. We are so sorry for the loss of your Mom and Dad. At least you know that they are together forever looking over you smiling as they were so proud of their family. Your parents were wonderful people. - Posted by: Heather Zajac & Staff of Mayers Fibre Tube (Friends) on: Apr 08, 2014

  • Dear Brian, Bonnie, Sandra and Families, Your parents were such kind and helpful people. I have many fond memories of them stopping to visit in Langenburg and at the lake. Your dad was one of the friendliest people I knew - he could talk to anyone. I know my parents are sure going to miss them. I am hoping you are feeling the hope of the ressurection in such a trying time. You have wonderful memories to cherish. Please know that I am thinking of you, keeping you close in thought and prayers. With Sincere Sympathy, Twyla Mensch - Posted by: Twyla Mensch (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2014

  • I met Larry in the mid 60's when he was dating my sister Dolores. I was new to Winnipeg and Larry and Dolores were both so kind and thoughtful towards me. Every Sunday afternoon Larry would ask if I wanted to go for a drive with Dolores and himself. The 3 of us toured all of Manitoba in a few years. Years later Larry and Dolores took me with them to weddings, anniversaries, or birthday celebrations whether they were in Texas, Saskatchewan, Alberta or B.C. Larry and Dolores did not like to miss any social event and Larry loved to drive. I miss you both so much. Thank You for everything. - Posted by: Barbara Armstrong (sister-in-law) on: Apr 07, 2014
