Date of Passing: Mar 27, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA ANN MAGNUS (nee CLARK) On March 27, 2014, Patricia peacefully passed away at the age of 77 years, with Vincent, her loving husband of 51 years, at her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Tara (Magnus-Walker), her son-in-law Harvey, granddaughters Jasmine (Magnus-Osborne), Madison, Daria, and Bailey, and her great-granddaughter Ember and great-grandson Coby (Schaefer). Patricia was predeceased by her brother Robert Clark and his wife Helen, brother Rodney MacDonnell, and her parents. Patricia was born on July 12 ("Orangeman's Day") in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and attended the convents of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in New Westminster, BC, and Seattle, WA. She was very proud of the fact that all four of her granddaughters were Fifth generation Holy Names students, and that her grandmother, Jane McKay, was the first student enrolled at St. Mary's Academy. Patricia always spoke fondly of her days at the convent, and had many happy memories there. Following her school days, Patricia moved to Montreal to live with her beloved brother, Bob, and his wife Helen. Eventually they moved to Winnipeg, where Patricia worked as a secretary at an insurance company, and met her best friend, Bonnie. Pat and Bonnie moved in together, and continued to live together for ten years, in Winnipeg and Montreal, sharing many happy and carefree memories. Pat met Vince in Montreal, PQ, where he was stationed with the Royal Canadian Air Force at the time. Although planning to move to California with Bonnie and another friend, Pat stayed in Winnipeg and married Vince on November 25, 1962. Pat and Vince lived in several locations (Sackville, NB, St. Jean, PQ, Portage la Prairie, MB, and Victoria, BC) before settling in Winnipeg. Pat devoted her entire life to caring for her only child, Tara, and her husband Vince, although she worked on and off at Eaton's in the fashion accessories department. Pat was a very beautiful and fashionable woman, and was always meticulously dressed. Pat was also a very religious and spiritual person, and she and Vince were very involved in the Catholic Church, first at Blessed John XXIII and later at Holy Rosary parish. Pat had a very grateful and generous spirit, and a wonderful, and sometimes mischievous, sense of humour. The lights of Pat's life were her four granddaughters, and she always made them feel very special and beloved. Patricia adored babies and children, and was especially delighted when her great-granddaughter was born two years ago. Although she never had a chance to hold her new great-grandson, she will now be looking down and watching over him from heaven. A special thanks to the staff at Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home, who were all very attentive and devoted to Pat, as well as to Vince, who visited her every single day that she lived there. As per Pat's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private funeral Mass was held at Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic parish on April 1, 2014, Father Gerald Langevin presiding. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Tara, Vince and family, please accept my heartfelt sympathies for your loss. One of the best days of my life was meeting at Pat in the accessories department at Eaton’s Polo Park. We instantly bonded, became friends and enjoyed many conversations and special moments together over the years. Not a day goes by without Pat in my thoughts. She was a great lady, and an inspiration, Pat was loved and cherished, and will be in my heart forever. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Sheryl Watt (Friend) on: Apr 05, 2014
