HAROLD MELVILLE PRIOR Harold Melville Prior died peacefully on March 29, 2014 at Deer Lodge Centre. He was born in Winnipeg on July 27, 1922, the youngest of William and Ethel's three children. They soon moved to Miami, MB where he grew up and attended Opawaka school. In 1942, he signed up to go overseas and served proudly in the 419 RSU as an aircraft mechanic. He fondly recalled the great friendships that were made and kept in touch with many for years hence. Upon his return from Europe, he opened a service garage in Holland, MB where he met his future bride, Dorothy May Morrow. They married in 1949 and moved shortly after to Winnipeg where the couple started a family. In 1951, Harold began his 26 year career with Trans Canada Airlines which, in 1961, involved being transferred to Montreal. There he became involved with the community and especially enjoyed playing Oldtimers hockey. Upon retirement in 1978, Harold and Dot returned to live in Winnipeg and soon found himself back on the job, this time with Standard Aero. No matter where he lived though, Harold could be found in the garage repairing cars and building, modifying or fixing just about anything under the sun. Harold will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dot, three children, four grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Harold's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3, Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts, 2300 Ness Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 1A2 or the Reh-fit Centre Foundation, 1390 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3V8.
