LEONARD SHUMSKI May 13, 1951 - February 27, 2014 With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Len Shumski on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Len was predeceased by his parents Miron and Rose Shumski, as well as his dear brother, Larry. Len will be greatly missed by his wife, Elizabeth and her children Debbie (Bruce) and family, Ken (Dorothy) and family and Kelly (Michelle) and family, as well as many cousins and friends. Len loved the open road and in following his passion for driving he worked an entire career as a truck driver. Len proudly drove transport truck for Liquid Carbonic hauling specialty gasses across the country. After 25 years of service, Len decided to slow down by starting his own business, Shumski Trucking. He would often joke that he had the best boss in the world. Len eventually decided to fully retire in 2010. Liz and Len shared over 40 years together and were able to do more of the things they loved, such as camping in their new trailer, visiting family and friends and enjoying family activities. After a terrible house fire at their family home in Winnipeg, Len and Liz decided to pack up and leave Winnipeg for a more relaxed life in Dauphin, Manitoba. They bought a beautiful house where Len was able to build his dream garage and workshop. Although, they were in Dauphin for only a short amount of time, Len was able to make many new friends as well as reconnect with many past friends and family. Len was always full of life. He always had a funny story to share. He always gave and never asked for anything in return. All will dearly miss him. A memorial service for Len will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 am at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, Manitoba.
