Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE BERNADETTE RAFUSE August 2, 1939 - April 12, 2014 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Irene Bernadette Rafuse announces her sudden passing at the age of 74, on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, in Teulon, MB. Our lives formed and touched by her trust, faith and unconditional love, Irene will be forever missed and fondly remembered by her son, Darin (Carmen), daughters Audra and Mandy, brothers Maurice (Lynda), Roy (Rita), Gerald (Pressy), Larry (Gail), Denis, sister Blanche (late husband Marcil), grandchildren Ashlee (Devin) and Nicholas. She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brynn, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family, many close friends and the community. Irene was predeceased by her husband David Rafuse, sister Lorraine Chartrand, and parents Harvée and Germaine Chartrand. Irene was born in Inwood, MB (Shoal Lake) on August 2, 1939 to the late Harvée and Germaine Chartrand. She attended Holand school in Inwood (Shoal Lake) and married the love of her life, David, on October 25, 1958, at the Saint Cecilia Church in Inwood, MB. Subsequently, David and Irene renewed their marriage vows in the very same church on their 40th wedding anniversary, surrounded by friends and family. David and Irene were married for 55 years at the time of David's passing in 2013. Irene battled breast cancer for a period that spanned decades. Her strong will, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends helped to carry her through the many years of grueling treatments, yet even throughout her own struggle with cancer, Irene always reached out to help others in need. For many years Irene worked with late husband David, to manage his trucking company, often accompanying him on his cross-country journeys. She often laughed like a teenager when she recollected those memories. The family is deeply grateful for the support of friends, hospital staff, the church and the community. Prayers will be held at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Teulon, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be presided by Fr. James deBeer at the St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon reception for family and friends will be held at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre immediately following the mass. Those who wish to do so, may make donations in memory of Irene, to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME TEULON 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

It seems like just yesterday we would chat about the day to day going-ons in Teulon, and the next visit we would have. I miss you more than words can say. xoxox - Posted by: Mandalyn Robinson (Daughter) on: Jul 07, 2019
