WENDY KULUK (nee KWIECIEN) October 31, 1942 - April 21, 2014 Wendy passed peacefully at home after a battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Gladys Kwiecien. She leaves to cherish her beloved husband Alex of 51 years, and three children: Christine (Glen Tachinski), Douglas, Lynne; four precious grandchildren: Xander, Kennedy, Victoria, and Jackson. She also leaves two brothers Richard (Louise) and Douglas (Karmen), brother-in-law Tony (Brenda), nieces and nephews: Karen, Gary, Adam, and Matthew. Wendy was born on October 31, 1942 and grew up in North Winnipeg. She attended King Edward and Tec Voc High School. Wendy and Alex were married in 1962 and enjoyed a myriad of pursuits together. They were active in curling and golfing for many years and were football enthusiasts. Her three children's activities and academic accomplishments were a source of pride. The Kuluk's social life was active with their Gilia Drive friends and neighbours: The Cooks, Codvilles, and Altins. Wendy maintained a very close liaison with many girlfriends "The Girls" for over forty years, which included legendary late night card games. One incredible experience included attending Elvis Presley's last concert in Las Vegas. Wendy and Alex enjoyed their numerous travels throughout Europe, the US and Canada. Her favourites were trips to Paris, Florence, Rome and California. Along with her parents, she enjoyed over a decade at their hobby farm in Prawda, Manitoba. Then, she enjoyed many further years with her family at their beachfront cottage at Twins Lakes on Lake Manitoba with its special array of birds and exquisite sun sets. Here she loved to watch her grandchildren play on the beach, swim, climb trees and to play cards especially cribbage and bridge. Wendy was most proud of her precious grandchildren and their academic and athletic achievements. She was a great listener, always so positive, supportive and encouraging of her children's and grandchildren's ideas and events. This is irreplaceable. She will be missed. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WRHA Palliative Care Program, Winnipeg, MB. R2H 2A6. The family thanks Dr. Doug Henry for his special care, plus all the palliative and home care staff. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111
